NSK Super-TF Steel Saves €16,300 Annually For Cold Rolling Mill
NSK’s asset improvement programme is saving the operator of a Cold Rolling Mill €16,300 annually as a result of solving a problem of bearing failure that was occurring three/four times per year, resulting in unplanned shutdowns and serious loss of production at the mill. The mill operator was being forced to change bearings up to four times a year due to the harsh working environment in which the bearings operated. The bearings were failing prematurely due to contamination; ingress from dirt, debris and liquids that were affecting the bearing lubricant and shortening bearing life.

NSK EXHIBITS AT 42ND TOKYO MOTOR SHOW

NSK EXHIBITS AT 42ND TOKYO MOTOR SHOW
NSK Contributes to the Future of Auto mobility and to the Global Environment through Four Technological Advantages: Compact/Lightweight, Low Friction Loss, Ultra High Speed Rotation and Development of Mechatronic Products In recent years, environmental awareness has increased in both developed and emerging economies. Population increases and motorisation have led to the need for higher fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions for automobiles. This has resulted in a variety of technical challenges. In response to the need for improved fuel economy, the focus has been on electrification, as represented by the advent of hybrid cars. As such, the prospect for the early realisation of a futuristic world of electric vehicles does not seem so far away. For the time being, however, internal combustion engines are still in the majority. This being the case, the need for improved efficiency is driving the development for Eco technologies for internal combustion engine applications.

NSK Achieves Ten-Times Bearing Life & Annual Savings On Bearing Costs Of €2,970 For Major Quarry/mining Operator.

NSK Achieves Ten-Times Bearing Life & Annual Savings On Bearing Costs Of €2,970 For Major Quarry/mining Operator.
NSK’s Asset Improvement Programme (AIP) has achieved 10- times bearing life and saved €2,970 annually on downtime and maintenance costs for a major company in the Quarrying & Mining industry that was experiencing frequent reliability problems with casting units assembled into a vibrating drum. The reliability problems were resulting in bearing failures every 2-months, or 440 hours of operation. They were caused by the severe environment in which the casting unit support bearings operated. The environment was wet and mechanically demanding. Worse still, the bearings were often exposed to large amounts of sand, which often covered them completely resulting in harsh abrasive ingress, and subsequent premature failure.

High load ratings combined with small bore sizes

High load ratings combined with small bore sizes
The new angular-contact ball bearings from the TAC-SHR series were specially developed for use in ball screws. Although they have smaller bore sizes than the existing TAC-HR series, they boast the same load carrying capacity. This means they permit machine manufacturers to produce more compact constructions.

Major Spanish Automotive Manufacturer Saves €2,500 Per Year On Operation Of One Drilling Units With
One of the major production plants of a large Spanish Automotive Group is benefiting from savings of €2.500 per annum on the operation of a drilling unit on one of its main assembly lines. The savings have been provided by NSK as part of its cost saving, Asset Improvement Programme, which takes a holistic approach to bearing problems experienced in production environments. The problem with the drilling unit was that its rear bearings repeatedly failed after 3 to 4 months of operation. The result of these failures was unplanned production stoppages and costly downtime, while the bearings were removed and replaced. With downtime costs running at €500/hour for the car plant, three breakdowns per year at around 2.5 hours in duration were costing the company €3.750 – and this on a single drilling rig.
