Molex Incorporated announces its latest additions to the iPass+™ product family. The iPass+ High-Speed Channel (HSC) CXP copper and optical system offers connectors and cables that achieve rates of up to 120 Gbps of pluggable data over 12 lanes in one assembly. This dual paddle-card system was adopted as the InfiniBand CXP 12x QDR standard, and by IEEE 802.3ba as the 100G Ethernet standard, providing 10 lanes of 10 Gbps data rates.

Molex Purchases Luxtera’s Silicon Photonics-based Active Optical Cable (AOC) Business; Partners on Future AOC Development

Molex, a global leader in the high speed interconnect marketplace, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Luxtera’s Active Optical Cable (AOC) business. Luxtera, the worldwide leader in Silicon CMOS Photonics, will transfer all aspects of its existing and future AOC business to Molex including current QSFP+ (Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable) 40Gbps Ethernet and InfiniBand products and customers. The acquisition immediately adds QSFP active optical cables to Molex’s portfolio of active optical connectivity products. The acquisition includes an exclusive agreement for Luxtera to develop and supply advanced chip-sets for future Molex products that are based on Luxtera’s silicon photonics technology, including next generation 14Gbps and four channel 25Gbps products for the 100Gbps Ethernet and InfiniBand markets. This stand-alone hardware platform includes PROFIBUS and Ethernet communication ports, enabling fast and easy connectivity to any Rockwell ControlLogix® and CompactLogix® controller.
