NITROGEN-METHANOL PROCESSES FOR HEAT TREATING STEEL ARE MORE EFFICIENT & TRANSPARENT WITH BURKERT’S LIQUID FLOW CONTROLLER

NITROGEN-METHANOL PROCESSES FOR HEAT TREATING STEEL ARE MORE EFFICIENT & TRANSPARENT WITH BURKERT’S LIQUID FLOW CONTROLLER
The Institute for Materials Engineering (IWT) in Bremen, Germany, is engaged intensively with the hardening of steel using the Nitrogen-Methanol Process as an alternative to gas carburising with endogas. In this process, liquid methanol is directly introduced into a furnace, the precise regulation of the methanol controlled by Bürkert’s v (LFC). The advantages of this method are that dosing of the methanol is achieved with high precision and is transparent: recording the reproducible consumption and flow values is carried out through the LFC and can be fully documented.

WHAT IS CLEANING IN PLACE? HOW DOES IT WORK, AND WHERE SHOULD YOU USE IT?...

....a basic primer from Burkert answers these & many more questions. Cleaning in Place (CIP) has been around for approximately 50 years, and is commonly used in hygiene critical industries, such Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical, to clean a wide range of plant. CIP refers to the use of a mix of chemicals, heat and water to clean machinery, vessels or pipe work without dismantling plant. The process can be one shot, where everything goes to drain, or recovery, which recycles most of the liquid. Overall, CIP can be a very efficient way of cleaning.

Burkert’s Decentralised AS-i Fieldbus System with Intelligent Valves Optimises Additive Production at Beverage Plant

Burkert’s Decentralised AS-i Fieldbus System with Intelligent Valves Optimises Additive Production at Beverage Plant
Companies operating in the competitive global market for food and beverage additives, such as concentrates and flavours, have to ensure that their production processes are not only safe and hygienic but also as efficient as possible. This has led to an increased demand for automation solutions at process level. However, the conventional approach of centralised automation of process valves cannot adequately meet the ever more stringent requirements of the industry. Intelligent process valves with integrated automation functions offer a viable and efficient alternative.

Energy Saving In Hazardous Ex Environments Is About Using Smarter & More Integrated Valve, Actuator & Positioner Systems

The cost-down pressures inherent in all process industries mean that plant operators are consistently required to improve efficiency, at the same time as ensuring repeatable product quality. These requirements are not exclusive to general processing environments; they also include production sectors where hazardous environments - with their complex, demanding standards in terms of safety provision - predominate. In these environments companies are prepared to invest heavily in new plant and equipment in pursuit of efficiency savings. However, in many cases, real savings and efficiency improvements can be achieved relatively simply and at low cost by focussing on cutting down on energy usage.
