Kirk Environmental’s tanks are first for Oxfordshire’s food waste
Agrivert have appointed Kirk Environmental to provide five 4,500m³ concrete digestion tanks for Oxfordshire County Council - at what will be the one of UK’s first large-scale AD facilities to be purpose-built for a local authority.
The new 30,000-tonne food waste treatment centre at Cassington (just north of Oxford), is the inaugural stage of the council's plans to generate electricity for 5,000 homes.

Working in close partnership with Agrivert and Biogas-Weser-Ems, Kirk Environmental have already helped reduce the initial design and procurement process so that a site start could be made within only a few weeks of the contract award. Key to the plant’s operation, the Kirk Environmental tanks, including construction of all foundations, leakage protection and tank walls are due to be complete in a fast track operation of just 16 weeks – with the treatment centre set to start receiving waste as early as September 2010.

Alexander Maddan, Managing Director at Agrivert commented: “Kirk Environmental not only bring high quality AD tanks to the project, but a great deal of partnership experience and expertise”.

Kirk Environmental’s contract with Agrivert follows its recent project awards for its Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Tanks and BIODOME membrane in South Korea, Fiji, Malaysia, California and Australia.
