The Women's Engineering Society (WES) is launching International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) for 2018, with this year’s theme being ‘Raising the Bar’, which is an invite to show the world what positive changes women can make.
Whether professionally, through studying or perhaps by creating a more diverse workplace. WES wants to hear from individuals and organisations making both large strides and small steps to raise awareness. It hopes to see lots of people and organisations demonstrating how they will be #RaisingTheBar for #INWED18 through events, activities and social media. As in previous years WES are expecting a plethora of female talent to be showcased and to see a huge number of events for people to participate in worldwide.
This year is also the 'Year of Engineering' and 100 years since (some) women were given the vote - today is the 100th anniversary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 which brought this change in the law into force! So 2018 is particularly poignant and WES are excited to see how this might influence your #INWED18 celebrations either on Saturday 23rd June or in the weeks leading up to, or following the day.
2018 also sees a new theme for the Top 50 Women in Engineering in partnership with The Telegraph - Transferrers and Returners. More information will be provided about this in subsequent communications.
