Leading by example in reducing its carbon footprint, the Shenton Group has installed the innovative and cost effective CHP system, powertherm, at its headquarters in Andover in Hampshire. The company’s large workshop is being heated utilising the system by hot water being pumped around the building to unit heaters in the 16,000 square foot area. It has been calculated that powertherm will provide the Shenton Group with energy savings of around 80%.

Scorpion Power Systems has used its expertise and experience to provide the Health Protection Agency’s Radiation Protection Division with a state-of-the-art standby power system to ensure the safety of its Oxfordshire facility. Won on a competitive tender, Scorpion Power Systems has provided the Health Protection Agency with a complete turnkey solution including all electrical installation work and commissioning.

An Auto Mains Failure (AMF) system is now used by most organisations as an integral part of their standby power system. However, if a fault should arise with the AMF, its interconnecting cables or control system, there could be a loss of mains power through the AMF’s changeover switch. Now, power solutions company, Scorpion Power Systems, has launched a mechanical AMF Bypass Switch, which will switch the mains supply directly from the input to the output in the event of a fault.

Scorpion Power Systems has upgraded its popular Phoenix Dual Mains Automatic Changeover Panel, which can now be incorporated with a Building Management Systems (BMS) and Fire Control Panel. Also offered with a remote annunciator panel, thereby enabling fire officers to see the status of alarms around a building, the Phoenix has enhanced monitoring facilities and can be adapted to meet individual designs.

Unable to install a diesel generator in its car park due to regulatory constraints, but needing to ensure its refrigeration system would continue to function in the event of a powercut, World Courier was faced with a conundrum on how to overcome the problem.
