The new GA 90+-160 VSD+ oil-injected screw compressor range has been launched by Atlas Copco. It provides reduced energy consumption, straightforward installation and simple service. It features compression elements with Smart Injection technology coupled with highly efficient oil-cooled IE4 and IE5 motors that require no service interventions.

Salmon producer Marine Harvest VAP (UK) has achieved annual energy savings of £21,000 after Atlas Copco updated its compressed air system with new technology. By downsizing from a 45kW compressor to a GA22VSD+ rotary screw compressor from Atlas Copco, the salmon producer has realised a 76% energy saving and a 30% reduction in service costs. The more compact compressor has also freed up floor space to fit a new refrigeration unit for an additional kiln.

It has been announced that Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique Service division has introduced the Full Machine Room (FMR) Service Plan, through which it offers to maintain all types and makes of rotating equipment used in a production environment. 

Atlas Copco has unveiled its new generation of oil-free low pressure rotary screw ZS 4 VSD + blowers, which are equipped with integrated permanent magnet (iPM) motors. This, along with other design developments, contributes to them being the most energy-efficient blowers available in the market.

After experiencing pressure drops that limited applications within its production facility, Quartztec Europe installed an Atlas Copco GA VSD+ compressor that has increased output, halved annual energy costs and exceeded initial savings estimates by a factor of 19%. Quartztec Europe is the largest fabricator of quartz glass in the UK and one of the top five in Europe. It undertakes manufacturing for market sectors, such as semiconductors, solar and fibre optics, within its 50,000 sq. ft. purpose-built facility in Kelvin South Business Park, East Kilbride.

  Launching the new ZR 90-160 VSD+; Atlas Copco has designed a new range of oil-free rotary screw air compressors with motor variants of 90, 110, 132, 145 and 160kW. The range offers up to 10% more flow and up to 15% per cent less energy consumption compared with other VSD compressors, as well as a 25% reduction in floor-space.

Atlas Copco has recognised Control Gear, based in Pontypridd, South Wales, as its 2017 Distributor of the Year. Winning the award is a particularly significant achievement because, in keeping with many service businesses in South Wales, Control Gear faced uncertainty over the future of the Port Talbot Steel works. It has nonetheless achieved significant results within the region by growing its non-steel business and working very closely with Atlas Copco’s Compressor Technique Service division to ensure it is poised to grasp future business opportunities.

The BLOODHOUND SSC project will make history later this month when it makes its first ever test runs, during which the supersonic combined jet engine and rocket powered car is set to achieve speeds of up to 200mph on the runway at Newquay Airport in Cornwall.

Designed to meet the strictest energy requirements, Atlas Copco has introduced two new dryer ranges, the CD 25+-260+ and the CD 25-260. The heatless desiccant dryers deliver increased efficiency and reliable continuous operation for industrial applications. Keith Barron, National Sales Manager at Atlas Copco, said: “The new CD+ and CD dryers are available now in inlet capacities ranging from 25-260 l/s, and have been launched to provide our customers with maximum flexibility when it comes to selecting an energy efficient dryer for their specific needs.” 

  Atlas Copco will exhibit its latest air compressors and industrial vacuum pumps at the PPMA Show 2017, which takes place on 26th to 28th September at the NEC in Birmingham.

Six of Severn Trent Water’s treatment plants in the UK have been fitted with ZS oil-free rotary screw blowers from Atlas Copco. This forms part of a major infrastructure refurbishment programme, including upgrades to the company’s Rapid Gravity Filters (RGF) that require low pressure air for sand de-scouring duties.

Extending its range of variable speed driven vacuum pumps, Atlas Copco has added three models which offer flow rates of up to 5004m3/h. The new GHS 3800-5400 VSD+ rotary screw pumps are particularly suited for large industrial vacuum users in the UK’s glass, plastics, canning and food packaging industries. 

  A UK quartz and granite worktop manufacturer, Natural Stone Surfaces, has chosen Atlas Copco to upgrade its essential compressed air supply and has improved its productivity and saved over £4,750 in annual energy costs as a result.

  It has been reported that Trelleborg Sealing Solutions UK facility has achieved over £11,000 savings in annual energy costs from its new Atlas Copco GA45VSD+FF compressor installation.

The launch of a flange management system has been announced by Atlas Copco Bolt Tightening Solutions. The iFMS is a modular, software-based management system designed for planning, data capture, analysis and reporting of activities related to the inspection, maintenance and testing of bolted joints and pipework.

Replacing its 11 year-old-fixed-speed workshop, a Scottish truck and van repair specialist not only halved its energy costs but also boosted its productivity, by using a new Atlas Copco VSD+ unit. McKinnon & Forbes is a family-run authorised IVECO van dealership based in Paisley that also repairs and services HGV trucks, vans and private vehicles. 

  A new pay-as-you-go compressed air scheme has been launched by Atlas Copco, airLET, which embraces the latest energy efficient air compressors and predictive maintenance technology.

The F range of professional refrigerant dryers has been introduced by Atlas Copco, which combine reliable, energy-efficient performance and a low maintenance requirement. This range has been designed with a simple space-saving vertical concept for easy plug-and-play installation. 

Showcasing its latest range of energy efficient compressors, vacuum pumps and energy assessment services at the Energy Management Exhibition (EMEX), is Atlas Copco Compressors, which will take place in London 16th-17th November. One of the highlights on stand E15 will be the GA VSD+ compressor, which offers average energy savings of 50%, as well as having a very small footprint and low noise levels.
