Over the past few years, a multimillion-pound investment at Knauf Insulation’s rock mineral wool production facility at Queensferry in North Wales has resulted in all parts of the production line being either replaced or upgraded, including the plant’s compressed air system. This £10 million upgrade programme has resulted in a major capacity increase, together with significant advances in material and product development as well as the introduction of new items.

Cathro Compressors Ltd, a family run business based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, is celebrating its 20th year as an Atlas Copco Compressors re-seller providing sales, service and installation of new and used stationary, oil-lubricated, industrial air compressors, pipework and ancillary equipment.

Atlas Copco has won a multi-million USD contract to supply six turboexpander compressors for a new type of application related to liquefied natural gas (LNG). The customer, Norway-based KANFA Aragon A.S., part of the Sevan Marine Group, will use the equipment for the world’s first floating natural gas liquefaction plant.

Atlas Copco Compressors has launched a new oil-water separator which uses an innovative filtration method to treat stable emulsion and prevent bacterial growth in the compressor condensate. The new OSCi separator can also be integrated into the canopy of most* of Atlas Copco’s GA-range of oil-injected screw compressors, conveniently allowing it to be monitored via the compressor’s electronic controller. Additionally, the unit has been inspected and certified to international standards by the Deutsche Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt) enabling operators to ensure they meet the appropriate standards relating to the disposal of oil-injected air compressor condensate.

From model engines to flight simulators paint spraying to patterns of nature, compressed air has a vast assortment of applications around the Science Museum in London. An Atlas Copco variable speed drive compressor supplies the air needed to bring science to life for its 200,000 monthly visitors.
