Testing and validating driver assistance systems
OxTS will present its RT-Range system at the conference 'Active Safety through Driver Assistance' taking place in Munich from 7th – 8th April 2008. The RT-Range systems are used for testing and validating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems such as Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning or Blind Spot Detection. Visitors will have the opportunity to see a live demonstration of the RT-Range measurement system. A Hunter- and a Target vehicle will be equipped with the system, so that visitors can see live and real-time results.
The RT-Range is ideal for the accurate measurement of the relative motion between two vehicles and the precise measurement of lane position. The RT-Range systems output all measurements of the ‘Hunter’ and ‘Target’ vehicle in real-time on CAN bus and PC with high accuracy. The position of the vehicle can be measured with up to 2cm accuracy and speed measurements are accurate to 0.05 km/h which is essential for ADAS testing.

The new RT-Range can be used with the popular RT3000 Inertial and GPS navigation systems from OxTS. All RT products combine the advantages of Inertial Navigation and GPS which provides continuously smooth and highly accurate measurements even in difficult GPS environments such as near trees, bridges or buildings.

The RT-Range system is already being used by a number of vehicle manufacturers to develop driver assistance systems. Car-to-pedestrian testing is now also possible with the newly developed RT-Backpack.
