The orientation-independent sensor is an all-welded 316 stainless steel construction which is unaffected by plant vibration or flow conditions. As with all Hydramotion viscometers the instrument is calibrated in the factory to international traceable standards and has no moving parts, seals or bearings that could wear out or fail in service. As a result, neither routine maintenance nor further calibration is required, so running costs are negligible and viscosity measurement can begin as soon as power is applied.
Operating on any supply voltage between 12 and 24 volts DC, the Viscojet provides a 4-20mA analogue viscosity output as well as a more comprehensive RS485 serial data link. The associated PC-based ViscoLink software supplied with the instrument has a user-friendly interface showing live viscosity, current temperature and temperature-corrected viscosity. There is also the facility to export data to Microsoft® Excel™ for logging and analysis.
The Viscojet is easy to operate with no training or specialist knowledge, while its ability to withstand a wide range of operating temperatures (from –20°C to +130°C) makes it ideal for use in a huge variety of process environments. An integral thermometer provides simultaneous measurement of fluid temperature, allowing simultaneous calculation of viscosity corrected to a reference temperature.
Configuring the system for optimum performance is quick and easy using ViscoLink. Moreover, the user has instant access to a complete set of diagnostic parameters for instrument validation purposes, thereby minimizing the time, effort and cost involved in any regulatory assessment of calibration and condition.
Installed in minutes, the Viscojet offers an immediate, reliable and durable solution to the challenges of real-time on-line viscosity measurement on any process line.
