The sensor is an all-welded 316 stainless steel construction connected to a battery-powered display unit. Viscosity is displayed as soon as the sensor is dipped into the fluid. After use, the sensor just needs to be wiped clean and it is ready for the next measurement.
The T15 has a range of 0 to 5000 centipoise in fluids at temperatures from –20 to +120 °C. The integrated thermometer means that temperature-corrected readings are also instantly available, enabling measurements to be taken ad hoc without having to control the temperature of the fluid. Repeatability is excellent and the instrument has high sensitivity, even at low viscosity.
The standard sensor is constructed from 316 stainless steel, although other materials such as special alloys may be used. A PTFE or custom finish can also be applied if required.
As with all Hydramotion viscometers, the Viscolite® VL700-T15 is factory-calibrated to traceable international standards and has no need for on-site calibration or day-to-day adjustment. No delicate or expensive accessories are required. The instrument’s low power consumption means battery life is long, and since there are no seals, bearings or moving parts to wear out, maintenance is minimal.
This versatile instrument is proving its worth wherever quick, reliable viscosity measurement is needed. It is particularly useful in the field where mains power is unavailable. For example, motor oil viscosity can be measured in a matter of seconds without having to take the sample to the lab. When not in use, the T15 can be stored in the weather-resistant carrying case supplied, making it truly portable.
