A new non-contact metrology system that provides portable surface profiling, imaging and thickness measurements down to nanometre resolutions, is utilising high precision optoNCDT 2401 confocal displacement sensors from Micro-Epsilon.

Draw-wire displacement sensors from Micro-Epsilon are playing a vital role in the testing of the latest generation of wind turbine blades at the Fraunhofer Institute in Bremerhaven, Germany.

Measurement Specialties, has just released for production, the Model MS5607-B digital pressure sensor featuring 24-bit resolution and the industry’s lowest current consumption. This device also features a fast conversion rate of 0.6 ms at 8-bit resolution to 8.3 ms at 24-bit resolution. Current consumption of 0.9 uA at one conversion per second (8-bit) to 12.5 uA (24-bit) and resolution selection per conversion enables optimum application-specific power–performance trade-offs to be realized.

Measurement Specialties, introduces a new constant voltage excitation feature to its industry leading Model 82 Series pressure sensor. The Model 82 Series industrial grade stainless steel isolated sensors are available in pressure ranges from 0 - 1psi through 0 - 500psi and are compatible with corrosive fluids & gasses. The new constant voltage versions allow compatibility with legacy electronics and competitive sensor electronics that run off a constant voltage supply and don’t require the added performance of the standard constant current versions.

With the PB series, Baumer is introducing a new pressure transmitter family based on a modular system which can be adjusted individually to customers’ needs. Remarkable is the high accuracy (of up to 0.1 % F.S.) over a large compensated temperature range of -40 °C up to +85 °C. The pressure range is between 100 mbar and 1600 bar. The FlexProgrammer 9701 enables the transmitter’s easy configuration.

With the Barflex, Baumer offers a robust digital manometer with integrated data memory. In the ATEX version Barflex 4Y, it is also suitable for the use in rough and hazardous surroundings. It can measure the gauge and absolute pressure of almost all liquid and gaseous media in a range from 500 mbar to up to 1000 bar and with an accuracy of up to 0.1 % of full scale. Used as a barometer, the Barflex displays the atmospheric pressure from 200 to 1150 hPa with an accuracy of 1 hPa.

Variohm EuroSensor has launched a new range of potentiometric linear position sensors for precision measurement from 10 mm to 300 mm that are supplied in open housings - reducing component cost for high accuracy position feedback applications. The PTP series from Novotechnik is a robust two-part design including a multi-fingered wiper assembly and separate open sided extruded aluminium housing containing a conductive plastic track.

For applications in gaseous and dusty surroundings, Baumer offers its FlexLevel Switch 4401 in various ATEX versions. They enable a safe level detection in hazardous areas. The ATEX certifications cover the zones 0, 1 and 2 as well as the zones 20, 21 and 22. The FlexLevel Switch can be easily configured on PC via the FlexProgrammer 9701. When used with a cooling neck, the switch is suitable for process temperatures from -40°C to up to 200 °C.

The new, intrinsically safe Temposonics IS position sensors by MTS assure a safe working environment where ignitable mixtures of materials occur. Developed for the linear position or level measurement in hazardous areas they meet all the requirements of equipment group category II. Along with the corresponding certified safety barriers they can be used directly in hazardous areas of instrument category 1/2G and 2D and in order to that can even be mounted to zone 0.
