At Agritechnica 2017, taking place in Hanover, Germany, from 12th to 18th November, NSK will exhibit a wide range of rolling bearings that have been purpose-designed for use in agricultural machinery. At booth E44 in hall 15, the company’s display will centre on Agri Disc Hubs and Large Hubs. These ready-to-install units contain double-row, angular-contact ball bearings which are used extensively in agricultural machines that have to operate in very harsh conditions.
Agri Disc Hubs and Large Hubs are characterised by long service life when operating in the harsh environmental conditions experienced by agricultural machines.
The bearings within NSK’s Agri Disc Hubs and Large Hubs feature a split inner ring that can absorb high axial and tilting forces. Each bearing is carefully sealed and fitted inside a ready-to-install, robust housing offering customer-specific mounting dimensions. The hub is filled with special high-performance grease that provides high-pressure absorption capacity throughout the life of the bearing.
Principal application areas for Agri Disc Hubs and the higher performance Large Hubs include soil-tilling machinery. Here, the bearings have to maintain optimum proficiency while being subjected to unfavourable conditions such as damp, abrasive grit, corrosive substances (such as fertiliser and manure) and high mechanical stresses.
In these conditions, Agri Disc Hubs are proven to deliver a long service life. This is recognised by OEMS in the agricultural machinery industry, including manufacturers of soil-tilling machines. Some explicitly state in their product documentation that they use NSK bearing units.
End users are increasingly pressing manufacturers of agricultural machinery to use NSK Agri Disc Hubs as they help minimise machine downtime during the all-important (and brief) tilling season. After all, there can be up to 98 disc bearings installed in a single compact disc harrow, all of which have to work perfectly during operations.
At Agritechnica 2017, NSK will exhibit samples of Agri Disc Hubs and Large Hubs, both as stand-alone units and as examples of installation situations involving machines that include compact disc harrows and flail mowers.
