Parker Launch SOLAS Compliant DFBO Diesel Fuel Filter Water Separator for the Commercial Marine Market Segment

Parker Hannifin, has launched its latest range of high performance duplex filters that have been specifically developed to extend their current market leading range of Fuel Filter Water Separators to meet SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) requirements in heavy duty marine applications. The current world leading Turbine Series is an Aluminium product certified to meet the requirements of UL and the Small Craft directive (vessels up to 24M in length, and under 500 Tonnes). The New DFBO units will be qualified to DNV, GL and LR, and be constructed wholly of steel/cast Iron, allowing them to meet the SOLAS requirements.

The DFBO also utilises an advanced multi stage filter separator similar to that supplied by the company in its API/IP approved aviation fuel coalescers, allowing extremely high flow rates in a small package space whilst maintaining the highest water separation performance in the industry. By separating fuel from water and particulate contamination, the new robust DFBO Series filters allow vessel operators to boost productivity and profitability by reducing the risk of contamination related problems. Thanks to a simple to install and environmentally friendly design, the duplex filters enable maintenance requirements and costs to be reduced still further.

Based on Parker’s specialist knowledge and experience in the marine sector, the DFBO duplex filters have been manufactured to ensure continuous and efficient fuel filtration for a range of marine applications, including fuel systems on diesel engines, marine fuel docks and diesel fuel dispensing systems. Each filter features a durable cast iron head and steel bowl construction, allowing it to provide a long and dependable service life. Furthermore, the new units can be fitted quickly and simply, while maintenance can be carried out easily without wrenches or special tools.

The DFBO filters are available in two bowl lengths and can be used at nominal flow rates of up to 90l/min, system pressures of up to 7 bar and operating temperatures of between 0 and +80°C. The units are compatible with a wide range of filter elements with micron ratings of 10µm and 25µm, enabling them to be used as either a prefilter or a water separator and particle filter, as well as a water absorptive filter.

As with all Parker products, the DFBO Series filters are backed by the company’s global network of manufacturing, sales and customer support centres.
