Mayr®: Extremely compact multi circuit brake
Double safety utilising redundancy also means double the braking torque. On designs with two independent brake circuits, this puts enormous mechanical strains on systems and components. Mayr® Power Transmissions have solved this problem by developing a new multi circuit brake, the ROBA®-quatrostop.
The new brake, designed for film, stage & theatre, offers redundancy without doubling the brake torque. Hence braking the system gently, reducing stress on associated components and saving cost due to more economic system design. The ROBA®–quatrostop incorporates four independent braking circuits which are integrated into an extremely compact unit. Three circuits ensure the necessary safety with the fourth offering the required redundancy therefore the braking torque is increased by only 33%. All braking circuits can be switched and tested independently.

The unit is an electromagnetic, spring applied safety brake. When power is removed from the system for any reason, including emergency stops, the brake offers reliable and safe stopping in any position. The very compact design ensures easy handling and minimum space requirements.

Every ROBA®-quatrostop is factory tested and set, eliminating the risk of adjustment errors during service & maintenance. With each circuit being equipped with independent release monitoring, this ensures maximum safety. The only maintenance required is periodic inspection of the friction linings which are manufactured from highly wear resistant materials achieving exceptionally long service life in normal operating conditions.

Based on over 40 years experience of daily use with Mayr® silent brakes Worldwide in stage & theatre applications, there is no compromise given to background noise intrusion. The ROBA®-quatrostop is noise damped to offer minimum disruption when switching.

Mayr® also produce an extensive range of electrical accessories to allow very low brake response times and ease of integration into new and existing system designs.
