Wear-resistant plate stock strips provide geometric design options

Five high-performance wear- and abrasion-resistant plastics as plate stock strips are now offered through igus. In addition to the classic iglidur W300 and the cost-effective J4, the FDA-compliant iglidur A500 material as well as the high-temperature endurance runner C500 and iglidur J350, the specialist for temperatures up to 180°C, complete the range. All sliding plates are available from igus, 15mm thick and 160mm wide.

iglidur W300 plate strips are suitable for use as sliding surfaces in abrasive environments such as those found in the glass industry.

Here, the material impresses with its wear resistance and maintenance free properties. Special solutions made from the iglidur A500 plate material are available, for example, in the form of slide rails in the food, packaging and semiconductor industries.

This material has a resistance to high temperatures, chemicals and even FDA approval. In contrast, iglidur C500 is suitable for applications where aggressive media and temperatures of between -100 and 250°C prevail. For example, design engineers in the fields of medicine, pharmaceuticals and chemicals can resort to this chemical-resistant material.

Further iglidur materials will become available as stock plate strips in different thicknesses and lengths of up to two metres.

If the engineer is looking for larger plate sizes with a width of up to one metre, igus offers six different high-performance plastics.
