The new PolySpek desktop spectrometer heralds advances over previous models in the form of increased wavelength coverage and improved resolution resulting in an enhanced optical design. Using the latest CCD technology, the unit has the ability to analyse elements across the complete range of commercial metals and alloys.
A-PLUS PolySpek Laboratory User software running under Windows XP provides Blue Diamond with detailed results that allow a direct comparison to be made between the composition of the parts being manufactured and the material specified by the customer. These results can be archived as part of Blue Diamond’s rigorous quality control procedures and ensure traceability of individual batches.
A further benefit of the PolySpek Spectrometer is that it can analyse the metal content of any part and replicate it. This means the system can also be used as an aid for reverse engineering, helping to recreate parts of unknown provenance. The machine can also be used to analyse prototypes at the sample stage and check the AQL (Accepted Quality Level) of parts on the production run.
Paul Brain, Engineering Director for Blue Diamond said, “Quality and consistency of supply are very important to us as suppliers of high quality components. We are always looking for equipment that will enhance our capabilities and this new machine will give our customers even greater confidence that a part is right first time.”
The PolySpek spectrometer joins an already impressive line up of high technology equipment in Blue Diamond’s recently refurbished quality control department. This includes a hardness tester together with a Baty multi-sensor, co-ordinate vision system used to measure complex engineering components by comparing their dimensions with an engineering drawing. Blue Diamond continues to invest in the latest resources and equipment for its quality control department underlining its commitment to the highest standards of quality, service and capability.
Blue Diamond specialises in solving all types of engineering challenges for its customers. Using the latest computer software packages, special components can be designed and engineered to provide the most cost effective and aesthetically pleasing solution. Where volume production is required, Blue Diamond can source a wide range of moulded, machined and cast components from established low cost base suppliers.
