P4A's First UK Progea Movicon SCADA Workshop Attracts Over 30 Systems Integrators to National Motor Museum at Gaydon
Over 30 UK systems integrators attended the first UK workshop for Progea Movicon SCADA held by Products4 Automation on 20th April at the National Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire. Attendees to the workshop were also treated to new product introductions from P4A, including the company’s highly innovative, low cost OEE-Lite module, which allows organisations to analyse their production performance without the cost and complexity of full MES.
“This impressive turnout of system integrators, from all across the UK and Ireland, shows just what an impact we are having on the UK SCADA market, and ably illustrates the amount of interest that there is in our Progea Movicon SCADA,” said Paul Hurst, MD of P4A.

The SCADA workshop was conducted by Jean-marc Willems, International Sales Manager for Progea Movicon SCADA; and by Paul Hurst. The SCADA was demonstrated with emphasis on Reports, logging to SQL, and web access, as these are all parts of the standard package, at no additional cost.

“The high level of interest in our SCADA package is not incidental,” said Hurst. “Historically, SCADA systems have been more expensive in the UK than anywhere else; and with restricted licences, development costs and yearly system integrator fees, costs are getting out of hand. We are changing this situation with Movicon 11, by offering system integrators and users all the functionality, scaleability, connectivity – and more – of their existing SCADA systems, but at a price 30% to 50% less. What’s more we are offering unlimited licences, and for the initial systems integrators that run with us, there will not be any yearly system integrator fees.”

“We offer key technical benefits, too, in that Movicon™ 11 is the first and the only Scada/HMI platform completely based on XML and Web Services technologies - from Windows 7™ to Windows CE™. The resulting supreme openness and flexibility of the Movicon™ architecture makes it the perfect Scada/HMI supervision solution, applicable to any sector in the world of automation.”

Following the SCADA workshop, P4A introduced the system integrators to its new Pilot OEE-Lite module from German MES specialist FELTEN. FELTEN Sales Manager, Martin Kiefer, presented the new low cost, highly functional OEE module, which enables organisations on limited budgets to monitor their production performance without full MES.

The OEE module offers the key benefit of enabling companies to start small in their OEE activity, prove the benefits to senior management and then expand the system incrementally and seamlessly to full TPM.

The final presentation of the P4A workshop day, was by Panasonic; introducing the company’s GN series of flat panel PCs running P4A’s Movicon CETM software; the most powerful HMI platform currently available for Windows™ CE.

“What we are offering with this CE-based package is the essential functionality of a full blow SCADA, but at much lower cost,” said Paul Hurst, “The GN series PCs are state- of- the- art flat screen units, which when combined with Movicon CE, provide the ideal OEM or end user package. The package offers full Windows support and connectivity, and includes functionality such as visualisation, trending, alarming, textural reports, two web clients and drivers that are networkable up to full Movicon 11 SCADA.”
