Farnell Takes Innovative Approach To Electronica With Live Interactive Demonstrations And New Products, Showcasing The Very Latest Element14 Technology Offerings

Farnell, the leading multi-channel distributor of electronic and industrial components, will give visitors to its stand at this year’s Electronica an exciting and different experience compared to the norm. With a focus on green technology, sport and electronics innovation, the stand will feature six key areas with live demonstrations and several interactive challenges.

One of the focus areas will feature a live demonstration of the CadSoft PCB design package and other related circuit layout tools. Underlining Farnell’s policy of making the very latest technologies available to design engineers as quickly as possible, a range of new and innovative components and modules from leading industry suppliers will be on display. Focus applications from the energy, lighting, wireless and sensing markets will also be a highlight.

Farnell’s sponsored Paralympic cyclist David Stone will set the bar for visitors who will be invited to take part in the ‘Bike Power Challenge’ to test their personal performance against a seasoned time trial event specialist. In another attraction, TUlip, the Dutch Robotic entry created by three key universities in Netherlands and sponsored by Farnell’s online technology portal and eCommunity element14, will be seen in action playing soccer. Finally, Leeds-based Robert Harrison, who attracted worldwide media attention and was approached by NASA for his innovative Icarus Project will offer live demonstrations and information at the stand. This element14 sponsored project is an ongoing initiative to send a camera into the stratosphere to capture outstanding images of the Earth from near space.

“We’re taking a different approach at this year’s Electronica,” said Marianne Culver, Head of Global Supplier Management at Premier Farnell. “The activities, products and demonstrations on our stand this year will generate interest and fun whilst underlining how Farnell can, through its depth and breadth of product range and an innovative state-of-the-art eCommunity element14, provide the perfect partner for engineers tasked with creating the next generation of innovative products.”
