  An International Summit Series about online education, two summits of which will be in European cities, has been announced by Maplesoft. The series of five Maple T.A. and Möbius User Summits includes stops in London (7th to 8th September 2017) and Turin, Italy (12th October) and will focus on transformations in online education.

Exhibiting at this year’s Pack Expo, taking place from 25-27th September in Las Vegas, NV, Kollmorgen will be present at booth C-1751. The company plans to introduce a new generation of synchronous servo motors – the AKM2G. Minebea Intec has said it will present its full product portfolio for foreign body detection including metal detection and x-ray systems at PPMA 2017. A new x-ray inspection system, Dymond Bulk,  will be unveiled at the  show in Birmingham, UK. The  inspection system has been developed specifically with bulk goods in mind, and is particularly suitable for processes between incoming goods and packaging lines in the food industry.

Showcasing its industry-specific drive solutions at the drinktec exhibition in Munich, Germany is NORD DRIVESYSTEMS. The German manufacturer draws on an extensive range of standard products with an unmatched variety of drive systems featuring aluminium cast housings optimised for wash-down.

In the electrical industry, 80% believe that building automation and system connectivity is set to grow in importance for end users, and one in ten electrical consultants stating that connectivity solutions will be specified on all projects within five years, building automation is poised to become a significant market opportunity for many across the electrical sector. 

The HF 5500, a new, horizontal-spindle machining centre for 5-sided and simultaneous 5-axis machining, will be launched by Heller at EMO 2017 alongside the smaller HF 3500, which was introduced last year. With a 900x950x900mm work envelope and a maximum pallet load of 750kg, the larger machine offers approximately 200mm extra travel in X, Y and Z plus 200kg additional load capacity.

If Industry 4.0 was merely the generic term for a new photo or TV application, the publicity slogan for the EMO Hannover 2017 might perhaps be ‘Industry 4.0 – the wish list’ or ‘Industrial Internet of Things – because I’m not stupid’. The fair’s keynote theme of ‘Connecting systems for intelligent production’ is more complex, but has nonetheless been well received among exhibitors.
