SKF gets wheels spinning on world’s first electric luxury sports car
SKF is working with French sports car manufacturer Venturi Automobiles to help develop and manufacture the first production electric sports car in history, the Venturi Fetish.
SKF’s strong knowledge in electric motors applications, global technical support and product range and quality saw it securing the two year contract to provide specialised products and support services for the Fetish. As well as supplying bearings for the electric motor’s speed reducer and the high-performance front and back wheel hubs, Venturi has taken SKF on board to provide technical and analytical services for product lifetime predictions.

UK Marketing Manager, Phil Burge, comments, “SKF is already recognised as a leading player in the field of energy efficient products and in the automotive and motorsport sectors. This was an important factor for Venturi Automobiles in selecting us as a key partner for the new electric sports car. In addition, both companies anticipate that through ongoing collaboration we will be able to develop new and even more energy efficient bearing and motor technologies.”

The groundbreaking Venturi Fetish is the first of its kind in the luxury sports car market thanks to its environmentally friendly zero emission output. Weighing in at just 1100kgs, the all-electric car is constructed of a carbon fibre body housing a carbon and aluminium frame. The high performance roadster boasts an impressive 330 horsepower engine capable of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 105mph.
