Data Portal adds user rating system

It has been announced that EPLAN’s Data Portal, which provides access to downloadable data and drawings for components, has now added a user rating function. The resulting feedback will help manufacturers that host product information on the portal to hone and structure their data so that it is an even better match for the needs of the EPLAN Data Portal users.

Since the new rating function was introduced early in 2018, more than 80 product catalogues with a total of 50,000 data sets have already been updated.

The goal of the new functionality is to rate and qualify the product’s digital data, not the product itself. As well as providing manufacturers with valuable indications from their users about how best to develop their data, the ratings also provide guidance for other EPLAN Data Portal users.

Following the introduction of the rating function, users can now sort their search results on the Data Portal in new ways. Two options are available: device data can be ordered so that devices with the highest ratings are listed first, or it can be sorted according to the number of downloads that the particular data set has generated. This means that users immediately know which items are considered to have the best quality data, and which are being used most often in a particular product group.

With more than 230 manufacturers offering more than 840,000 data sets as direct downloads, the EPLAN Data Portal is the most comprehensive platform of its type. The data is updated every month so that users can always be confident that the information they obtain from the EPLAN Data Portal is accurate, up to date and comprehensive.

New manufacturers are adding their products to the EPLAN Data Portal each day. Hitachi Industrial Systems with automatic circuit breakers, Yaskawa with frequency converters, and IMI with more than one hundred pneumatic cylinders, are a few of the most recent additions.
