New Burkert Publication Highlights Company’s Expertise In Brewery Process Control
Burkert Fluid Control Systems has launched a new publication highlighting the company’s expertise in Brewery Process Control. Burkert offers a unique synergy of process automation, valve elements, sensors, flowmeters, water treatment systems and networked communications, all of which are integrated to deliver single source customised systems that provide breweries with higher process efficiency and also higher yeids.
Burkert is active in all areas of brewery process control, with many years of experience of beer production, and of project fulfillment with OEM’s, and contractors, and also commissioning at plant level. The company partners with brewers in the real physics of batching, cleaning, water producing, filling, heating, cooling, separating and fermenting. In these operations Burkert shares its experience in complete control loops for flow, conductivity, pH, temperature, pressure or level, and can help partners determine the most effective communications architecture for their projects.

Everday, in breweries around the World, Burkert products and systems routinely handle mediums such as steam, water, air, nitrogen and cleaning agents, and are instrumental in the production of the finished product: beer. They offer wide specifications with valve materials such as stainless steel, brass and bronze; that provide high performance in wash-down process areas, and facilities on some pH and conductivity sensors for CIP and SIP.

In addition, Burkert’s unique 8650 process automation system offers the way forward for control system design in hazardous zone 1 areas; its cost effective integration of pneumatic and electronic control technologies and advanced Profibus DPV1 communications relieving the control engineer of the task of installing the many special expensive electrical junctions and terminations required by conventional field wired systems in ATEX areas.

Burkert is also able to overcome plant standardisation and communication protocol issues in breweries with its AirLINE 8644 system. The system integrates Burkert’s high performance solenoid valves with analogue and digital I/O modules and fieldbus communications from all market-leading PLC vendors, including Siemens, Rockwell, GE Fanuc, Bosch, Beckhoff, Phoenix Contact and Wago.
