The Board of Directors of Yokogawa Electric Corporation resolved in a meeting on the 19th February to appoint Herman van den Berg to the position of President of Yokogawa Europe B.V. Herman van den Berg succeeds Harry Hauptmeijer, who has been Yokogawa Europe’s president since 2002 and will continue as director until the 1st October 2013 to support the transition.

Yokogawa signs strategic agreement with Saudi Aramco

Yokogawa Saudi Arabia and Saudi Aramco signed a Corporate Procurement Agreement that encompasses all the services Yokogawa provides to Saudi Aramco. This agreement is a testimony to Yokogawa’s strong presence in Saudi Arabia. The CPA with Saudi Aramco covers equipment supply, project management, engineering, spare parts, and maintenance services.

Yokogawa adds four new models to AQ1200 Series of handheld multi-function OTDRs
Yokogawa has added four new models to its AQ1200 Series of handheld multi-function OTDRs, bringing the total number of products in the range to seven. The new instruments, which include one triple-wavelength model and three high dynamic range versions, are particularly relevant to FTTx (fibre to the home etc.) applications, and mean that Yokogawa can now offer a complete product line up to satisfy virtually all the differing requirements for installation and maintenance testing of the various types of optical fibre networks in different European countries.

Yokogawa wins control system order for first IGCC power plant in South Korea

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Electric Korea, has won an order from Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, to supply a control system for an integrated gasification combined cycle plant. This is the first IGCC plant in South Korea and it is being constructed in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, by Korea Western Power, a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its affiliate, Yokogawa Kontrol (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., has received an order from the CTCI Consortium to supply control systems and field devices for the Kimanis combined-cycle power plant, which is being built for Kimanis Power Sdn. Bhd. in the Malaysian state of Sabah, in the northeast part of Borneo island.

Yokogawa enhances STARDOM(TM) network-based control system by releasing new modules for power and upstream oil and gas applications
Yokogawa Electric Corporation has released a number of new modules for the STARDOM(TM) network-based control system. The new modules include control modules with the high speed and reliability required for small- to medium-size turbomachinery, a frequency input module that can accurately measure the speed of even slowly rotating wind turbine blades, and an upgraded CPU module for oil and gas upstream processes that features improved reliability and greater memory capacity.

Yokogawa releases HXS10 controller for solar tracking applications
Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release of the HXS10 controller, a new product that controls the actuation systems that move heliostats (reflectors) and photovoltaic panels. The HXS10 helps to maximise power generating efficiency by controlling the angles of heliostats and solar panels so that they stay pointed at the sun as it moves across the sky.

High-frequency power measurements can now be carried out with greatly enhanced accuracy using a de-skew correction signal source, along with voltage and current probes, in conjunction with the /G4 power measurement option on the Yokogawa ranges of digital and mixed-signal oscilloscopes.

Yokogawa receives order to supply control system for combined cycle power plant in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Deutschland GmbH, has received an order from MAN Ferrostaal Industrial Projects GmbH to supply an automation and control system for the La Brea Combined Cycle Power Plant that is being built by MAN Ferrostaal Industrial Projects GmbH and Eisenbau Essen GmbH for Trinidad Generation Unlimited . This power plant is being built near La Brea, a town on the south side of Trinidad Island. With a capacity of 720 MW, this will be the largest power plant in Trinidad and Tobago, a country with a vibrant economy that is rich in oil and natural gas resources. Scheduled to be completed in July 2011, the plant will meet the country's rising demand for electricity.

Yokogawa's communication interface for industrial recorders and data-acquisition equipment passes ODVA's conformance test

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its recently developed EtherNet/IP compatible communication interface for industrial recorders and data-acquisition equipment has passed the ODVA* conformance test - a first in this field. Based on the EtherNet/IP protocol that is gaining acceptance as an industry standard, this interface eliminates the need for dedicated software to connect data-acquisition equipment with other devices such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) or temperature controllers, thus simplifying system development. This communication interface will be installed on Yokogawa's industrial recorders and data acquisition equipment starting in fiscal year 2008.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has developed a test software option for the VC3300 wireless communication tester that supports the TD-SCDMA third generation (3G) mobile telecommunications system now being considered for commercialisation in China. Shipment of this software option will commence at the end of December.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the launch of an enhanced version of the ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system, ProSafe-RS R1.03. To meet the latest safety instrumentation needs of the oil, petrochemical, and other industries, the remote optical communications capability has been enhanced and a digital output module and a simulation test function have been added to this new version.
