By using the Yokogawa WT5000 Precision Power Analyser, Società Elettromeccanica Arzignanese (SEA), an Italian manufacturer of power transformer and reactors is able to closely match the efficiency performance guarantee that it makes to a customer, with the actual performance of the transformer.

The adoption of pressure sensors in consumer goods and wearables, and their increasing use in industries such as automotive and medical, has led to the need for higher levels of precision pressure measurement for their development and calibration. To meet these requirements Yokogawa has launched the MT300 manometer.    

The WT3000E Transformer Version is a newly-introduced precision power analyser developed by Yokogawa. It is dedicated to testing the power transformers used in the power utilities’ transmission and distribution sectors. With an accuracy of 0.5% at power factors as low as 0.01 at 100 V and 1 A, the WT3000E Transformer Version is ideally suited to the precision testing of transformer losses, allowing transformer manufacturers to avoid potential fines imposed by power authorities that could run into thousands of euros.

  It has been announced that IoT enabler, Telit, is collaborating with Yokogawa on a brand new Industrial Internet of Things architecture created with the goal of propelling Yokogawa’s business model into a connected future.

February 1 is the release date for OmegaLand V3.1, an enhanced version of the OmegaLand integrated dynamic simulation environment from Omega Simulation, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric. OmegaLand is a core element of Omega Simulation’s plant training simulator. In the oil, natural gas, petrochemical, chemical, and other industries, the number of skilled operators continues to decline each year.

It has been announced that the subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Yokogawa United Kingdom has received an order from the British Pipeline Agency (BPA) to supply a management and control system for a major multi-product fuel pipeline system. This project will replace BPA’s existing pipeline management and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

An ISA100 Wireless-based field wireless vibration sensor from Yokogawa has the ability to quickly update data as well as a long battery life. ISA100 Wireless is a technology that is based on the ISA100.11a standard. It includes ISA100.11a-2011 communications, an application layer with process control industry standard objects, device descriptions and capabilities, a gateway interface, infrared provisioning, and a backbone router.

Yokogawa Electric has announced has completed the acquisition of Soteica Visual Mesa, further delivering on a number of key objectives of Yokogawa’s Transformation 2017 mid-term business plan: specifically the expansion of Yokogawa’s advanced solution business, focusing on customers and creating new value.

 Yokogawa Electric has received a Technology Award from the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers (SICE) for its achievements in the development of industrial wireless technology. The award was presented at the Sice annaual conference in Tsukuba, Japan.

Released for sale in Europe is Yokogawa Electric’s EJXC40A digital remote sensor, a newly developed DPharp EJX series differential pressure transmitter. Equipped with two pressure sensors that are connected with an electric cable, the EJXC40A measures liquid levels in large tanks and large differential pressure with high-pressure fluids.

FieldMate R3.02 is an enhanced version of Yokogawa Electric’s FieldMate software which is used to configure, adjust, and manage a wide variety of field devices used in factories and other production sites. This latest version includes new functions that reduce maintenance workload by simplifying a number of field maintenance tasks.

Yokogawa Electric has made a strategic investment in FogHorn Systems, a Silicon Valley start-up that is a leading developer of fog computing technology. Yokogawa aims to foster development of fog computing technology through its investment in this company and expand the range of solutions that it provides.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announced that it has received an order to supply turbine control systems for thermal power plant No. 4, the largest thermal power plant in Mongolia. This 2.1 billion yen project is being undertaken to improve the efficiency of this facility’s operations. X

The AQ6376 Optical Spectrum Analyser (OSA) from Yokogawa is claimed to set a new ‘world standard’ for grating-based OSA capabilities in measuring signals with a wavelength beyond 3µm, designed to operate in the short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) as well as in the mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) regions.

The CA300 Series of handheld process calibrators from Yokogawa is a family of three models featuring high accuracy and stability. Each model incorporates a dedicated range of functions for loop diagnosis, thermocouple simulation and RTD (resistance temperature detector) simulation, respectively.

The CW500 power quality monitor from Yokogawa is a general-purpose unit for field and on-site testing and troubleshooting, is the latest addition to the company's range of power measuring instruments. Featuring a range of clamp-on current probes, built-in data logging and measurements conforming to the IEC 6100-4-30 Class S standard, the monitor is a multi-function instrument designed to aid the inspection and maintenance of power quality in factories, commercial or public facilities.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has released Exaquantum R3.01. Compared to the previous version of the Exaquantum plant information management system, Exaquantum R3.01 delivers a six-fold increase in data acquisition performance and can handle five times as many data points (tags).

The new Yokogawa AQ6375B is an optical spectrum analyser operating in the short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) region covering wavelengths from 1200 to 2400 nm. With a design based on the company's highly successful AQ6375 instrument, the new analyser combines high measurement performance with ease of operation, and incorporates a number of new features including a gas purging feature, a built-in cut-off filter, data-logging capabilities, a double-speed mode, and support for Windows file sharing.

A global services agreement has been renewed between Yokogawa Electric and BP. The deal means Yokogawa Electric will supply main automation contractor services (MAC services) to BP's upstream entities. The provision of MAC Services is an arrangement whereby a plant owner seeks to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and speed up project delivery by assigning responsibility for supplying a control system solution to a single automation vendor.
