Yokogawa America do Sul, a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric, has received an order from AREVA Renewables Brazil, a subsidiary of the French firm AREVA SA, to supply a control system for a biomass power plant that will be the largest facility of its type in Brazil. The plant is being constructed by Bolt Energias in São Desidério, Bahia, in the northeastern part of the country.

Yokogawa has introduced an enhanced version of its best-selling WT300 Series of compact 5th generation digital power meters featuring higher accuracy, new measurement functionality and improved connectivity including Modbus/TCP capability to aid integration into production environments.

Yokogawa Solution Service Corporation announces that a community energy management system (CEMS) it has built and delivered to the F-Grid Ohira, Miyagi Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) is now fully operational. The LLP is headed by Toyota Motor Corporation. Over a two-year period, this system was developed by the LLP, built by Yokogawa, and field tested. Funding for the testing of this system, which was developed as part of a smart community project undertaken by the LLP was provided by the Japanese government.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release of version R3.20 of its Plant Resource Manager (PRM) software tool for the centralised management of large amounts of data from plant monitoring and control devices and manufacturing equipment. PRM R3.20 is an upgrade to R3.12 and includes an improved management function for HART and ISA100 Wireless field devices. With this new PRM version, Yokogawa aims to capture a larger share of the plant maintenance market.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the release of the SensTation pH/ORP measurement system, a scalable and integrated solution that combines the unique capabilities of the SENCOM pH/ORP sensors and the SMARTDAC+ data acquisition and control system. This solution eliminates the need for a pH/ORP transmitter and allows users the choice of any of the paperless recorders in the SMARTDAC+ series, each of which can connect to up to 16 sensors. In addition to supporting a wide range of analytical and data control applications, this solution improves maintenance efficiency.

On May 7, Yokogawa Electric will launch the TDLS8000 tunable diode laser spectrometer. It is designed to make in-situ measurements of gas concentrations in combustion and heating processes that are employed in the oil, petrochemical, electric power, iron and steel, and other industries.

A series of controllers, which consists of four DIN rail mounting type controllers and one DIN panel type programme controller, has been introduced by Yokogawa Electric. The UTAdvanced controllers are mounted on furnaces and other types of heat process-related industrial facilities for the measurement, display and control of operating variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate.

The SMARTDAC+ GM data acquisition system from Yokogawa Electric improves operational efficiency due to its modular design, which facilitates the mounting and removal of modules. In addition, the system supports Bluetooth wireless communications for use with handheld mobile devices. It is expected to comply with 21 CFR Part 11 regulations in 2015.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation has developed an enhanced version, release 2.0, of the GA10 data-logging software for the SMARTDAC+ data acquisition and control system. The GA10 software can collect, display, and record data from multiple data acquisition and recording devices and measuring instruments.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa Electric Korea Co., Ltd., has won an order from Samsung C&T Corporation to supply control systems for the Rabigh 2 combined cycle power plant, which is being built in Rabigh on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast. Plants of this type rely on both gas and steam turbines to generate electricity. The exhaust heat from a gas turbine is used to generate steam, which is sent to a steam turbine to generate additional electricity.

Yokogawa France S.A.S. has won an order from VINCI Environment UK to supply control systems and safety instrumented systems for a waste-to-energy facility that is being built for SITA Cornwall Ltd. in the UK. VINCI Environment UK is a Group company of VINCI Construction, France's leading construction company.

Yokogawa Electric Corporation announces the November release of Energy Performance Analytics (EP-Analytics), a software tool that uses energy performance indicators (EnPI) to track how energy is being consumed in a plant, identifies gaps between EnPI targets and actual performance, and helps to identify countermeasures to improve energy performance. The EP-Analytics software is powered by the Visual MESA(TM) energy management and optimisation solution.

Yokogawa Electric announces that its subsidiary, Yokogawa United Kingdom, has been awarded a multi-million pound contract by SSE Hornsea Ltd for the upgrade of one of the UK's largest onshore underground gas storage facilities, located at Atwick, East Yorkshire.

Yokogawa’s CENTUM VP R5.02 production control system has been successful in gaining VGB-R170C requirements from VGB PowerTech e.V.: the independent technical association representing the interests of power plant operators and manufacturers. These requirements and rules have been consistently implemented into the CENTUM VP R5.02 system, and were checked and certified by TÜV NORD in May 2013 for compliance.

Yokogawa Electric and KBR today announced the signing of a technology alliance for a fertilizer automation package that will form part of the ammonia process technology solutions that KBR offers to its customers worldwide. Under the terms of this alliance, KBR will incorporate Yokogawa’s high value-added process control solutions in the FAP.

Yokogawa Electric will release the FieldMate R2.06 Versatile Device Management Wizard in mid-May. FieldMate is a versatile software program for configuring, adjusting, and managing a wide variety of field devices used in factories and other production sites. This latest version of the FieldMate software is being exhibited at the HANNOVER MESSE 2013 trade show (8-12 April 2013). With this new version, Yokogawa will increase its share of the maintenance market.

Yokogawa Electric has been selected to supply the integrated automation and safety system for the new liquefaction trains at Cheniere’s LNG facility in Sabine Pass, Louisiana, USA, which is being developed by its Cheniere subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction. SPL is the first company with US Department of Energy approval to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) to non-Free Trade Agreement countries.
