Provider of 3D digital content for engineering, TraceParts, has enabled designers registered on its platform to import components in the FUSION 360 format directly into the cloud-based CAD software developed by Autodesk, a company in the fields of 3D design, engineering and technology. FUSION 360 combines CAD, CAM and CAE (Computer Aided Engineering). The software allows users to take their projects from the design stage right through to production, and even integrates 3D printing capabilities.

There were 69 million CAD models downloaded in 2016, therefore the TraceParts platform which is used as a key tool for people working in the CAD and design sector needs to be up to date. To have a better understanding of its users, TraceParts asked over 150,000 design engineers a series of questions covering several topics: how they approach their work and projects, their expectations and working habits. 

TraceParts reports a significant increase in the number of manufacturers and distributors who published their industrial component catalogues through TraceParts in 2016. With a total of 69 million CAD models downloaded last year, many companies, such as Essentra and SKF, benefited greatly from having 3D models of their products on the TraceParts CAD platform.

  A free CAD catalogue has been launched by RAPID on TraceParts. The parts catalogue includes over 200 CAD files of sheet metal parts and features such as U Enclosures, Cutouts, Embossments, Punch Tooling and more.
