CAD files of sheet metal parts can save precious design time
A free CAD catalogue has been launched by RAPID on TraceParts. The parts catalogue includes over 200 CAD files of sheet metal parts and features such as U Enclosures, Cutouts, Embossments, Punch Tooling and more.
TraceParts is a large digital media company for engineering. One of the services TraceParts offers is a CAD platform. The platform includes over 100 million parts available for download.
RAPID joined TraceParts vendor platform to offer engineers an alternative to creating from scratch standard sheet metal enclosures and tooled features. To use the service, engineers create a free account on the TraceParts website. The customer then chooses the 3D CAD file they wish to use and then download the file.
The process is frictionless. James Jacobs stated: "RAPID is always on a mission to expand our services and better serve our customers. By partnering with TraceParts we are able to offer product developers standard enclosures and common tooled features essential to their product, but not worth the design hours to create the part from scratch."
