Sir David McMurtry, Chairman and Chief Executive of global engineering company Renishaw plc, has been honoured with the prestigious General Pierre Nicolau Award by the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). The award, which was presented to Sir David at the Academy’s annual assembly in Pisa, Italy during August, is presented each year to individuals who have made significant and distinguished contributions within the field of production engineering.

New 5-axis head for touch-trigger inspection on CMMs gives up to three-fold increase in throughput
Renishaw is introducing another innovative measurement product that is expected to transform inspection performance on a wide range of co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs). Utilising technology developed for the multi-award winning REVO® measurement system, the new PH20 probe head offers unique ‘head touches’ for rapid touch-trigger measurement, and fast infinite 5-axis positioning to guarantee optimal feature access. Its compact design makes it suitable for new CMM purchases and as a retrofit to the vast majority of existing CMM touch-trigger installations.

MTEC show to see absolute encoder that achieves 10 atoms resolution at 220 mph

Renishaw will focus on its latest range of optical incremental encoders , optical absolute encoders and magnetic encoders when it exhibits at MTEC, the sensors, measurement and instrumentation show, which takes place at the NEC, Birmingham, UK from 27-28 April. Demonstrations will include a new 1 nm resolution version of its established TONiC incremental encoder, a new magnetic chip encoder, and a groundbreaking absolute optical encoder for rotary and linear applications that is capable of 10 atoms resolution at 220 mph.
