Among the world’s top 50 automotive suppliers, NSK made its debut appearance at this year´s Automechanika in Frankfurt. The company used the show to convey a message that its proven components such as wheel bearings will now be made available in the Independent Automotive Aftermarket (IAM).

It was an astute decision according to NSK to use a selection of its spherical rolling bearings in one of the world´s largest bucket-wheel excavators. Despite six years of heavy duty operation at RWE Power´s opencast mine in Hambach, Germany; the bearings are still going strong, without any relubrication.

Offering reduced friction, NSK´s heavy-duty BNEQARTET bearings consequently provide double the service life in domestic washing machines and other industrial applications. In line with consumer demand, a recent trend has seen washing machine manufacturers’ move towards larger drum diameters in order to accommodate greater laundry capacities.

A long-life, large-size roller bearing has been designed by NSK to improve the reliability of large gearboxes used in wind power generators and other industrial machines. The principal innovation of the new bearing is a combination of special heat treatment technology and proprietary NSK material that delivers superior flaking resistance, including that of white structure flaking.

Laser alignment tools from NSK can now be offered for plants looking to minimise losses and ensure machines gives optimum performance with the lowest energy consumption, as part of its new AIP+ Added Value Programme. The tools have been developed in response to the fact that over 50% of machines run out of alignment, which causes higher loading and lower overall performance. LAS-Set from NSK uses dual line lasers for easy set-up, even at larger distances.

A selection of products at WindEnergy 2016 will be shown by NSK, whether it’s bearings for the main rotor shaft, main gearbox, pitch and yaw gearbox, oil pump or generator. The event taking place in Hamburg, Germany 27th-30th September is to demonstrate the company’s expertise and decades-long experience in this growing market segment.

Range of compact actuators for high load applications in industrial machines, has been enhanced by NSK. Adding to the company’s existing Monocarrier MCH family, the Toughcarrier series is a ready-to-install range of linear systems for applications that include machine tools, robotic handling systems, automotive assembly and welding lines, and automated measuring equipment.

  The high performance standard range from NSK, known as NSKHPS rolling bearings, has been expanded to bring higher load factors, smaller dimensions and greater energy efficiency to Europe´s machinery manufacturers and maintenance teams.

When a manufacturer of heat exchangers was experiencing frequent production stoppages due to bearing damage on the spindles of its horizontal machining centres, the company turned to NSK for a solution.

To help OEMs produce larger, electrically operated injection moulding machines, NSK is expanding the size range of its NSKTAC03 high load ball screw support bearings from 120 to 180mm. The NSKTAC03 series bearings can now support high load ball screws in electrically operated injection moulding machines.

NSK will use the forthcoming Automechanika exhibition, 13-17th September, in Frankfurt, Germany, to showcase its brand offer for the independent automotive aftermarket, which will complement its position as a leading supplier to the OEM market.

The Doppelmayr Graventa Group in Wolfurt, Austria, a specialist in the manufacture of surface and aerial ropeways, has benefited from the expertise of NSK in replacing the main spindle roller bearings on an extremely large surface wheel lathe.Ropeways as a means of transport are highly suited to urban areas as well as ski resorts. Doppelmayr is the world leader for this application.

NSK has expanded its series of high load capacity ball screws. The company´s new Super Large Ball Screw makes it possible to injection-mould even bigger plastic components in line with growing demand from sectors such as automotive. The Super Large Ball Screw, which features 800 mm long nuts to help increase axial load and operating life, is designed for electrically operated plastic injection moulding machines requiring a clamping force of 3000 tons or more.

In recent months NSK Japan has been working in close conjunction with the Kanagawa Rehabilitation Centre, performing trials of the company´s innovative LIGHBOT autonomous guide robot which features indoor navigation and obstacle avoidance.
