Lloyd Instruments will be showing equipment from its impressive range of materials testing equipment for the medical and medical packaging industries at MEDTEC China 2008. This includes the highly popular LFPlus low force single column materials testing instrument with NEXYGENPlus control and analysis software, the Davenport MFI-10 melt flow indexer and the Chatillon® TCD225 Series Digital Force Tester and LTCM-100 Series Motorised Tester, together with a series of force gauges. Lloyd Instruments has extensive experience in medical device, medical packaging and pharmaceutical manufacturing industries, with hundreds of systems installed worldwide.

A dust extraction system has been developed by Lloyd Instruments for its LR50KPlus (50 kN) twin column universal materials testing machine. The system overcomes problems resulting either from the use of dusty samples or dust and small particulates produced during the testing process. The solution can also be adapted for other twin column material test machines from the Lloyd Instruments range.

The huge popularity of burgers from fast food outlets, pubs and at home, together with competitive pricing means that the composition of burgers can vary significantly, from 100% prime ground beef to poor-quality meat containing a high percentage of fat, bulking agents, salt and other additives. Texture analysis of uncooked patties using a new test jig for the Lloyd Instruments’ TAPlus texture analyser provides an objective measure of the burger consistency.

Alloy Wire International Ltd is using a PC-controlled universal materials testing machine from Lloyd Instruments as part of its comprehensive quality assurance procedure. Every coil of wire is subject to tensile testing prior to dispatch.

Lloyd Instruments announces the launch of the Davenport™ PETPlus Intrinsic Viscosity Measurement Instrument. This new compact stand-alone instrument offers significant benefits for determining the intrinsic viscosity (IV) of moisture-sensitive PET polymers, avoiding both the costs and the environmental hazard of handling and disposal of toxic solvents. The PETPlus also measures the degradation factor and provides the mean and standard deviation for the batch.
