Extended Travel Materials Testing Machine Announced By Lloyd Instruments
The new LS2.5 materials testing machine completes the family of single column instruments from Lloyd Instruments which also includes the LS1 and recently launched LS5 materials testing machines. The LS2.5 features 1400 mm crosshead travel and high speed range of 0.01 - 2032 mm/min, making it ideally suited for testing plastic, rubber and other high elongation materials. From stand-alone operation via the convenient, integral control console to PC-control using Lloyd Instruments’ well-respected NEXYGENPlus materials testing software, the LS2.5 is an affordable, easy to use system.

New Materials Testing, Training And  Customer Support Centre Opened In India
Lloyd Instruments is delighted to announce that its distributor in India, Hemetek Techno Instruments PVT. Ltd, has opened a new testing, training and customer support centre at its headquarters in Mumbai. The introduction of the TCD1100 extends the force testing capacity of the TCD Series to 5 kN (1124 lbf). New Jigs To Measure Peel Cling, Puncture Resistance  And Tensile Strength Of Stretch Wrap Cling Film
Lloyd Instruments offers versatile testing of stretch wrap film with the introduction of two new test jigs for its LFPlus 1 kN (225 lbf) single column materials testing machine. The TG1075 is used for testing puncture resistance to ASTM D 5748-95 (Re-approved 2007), while the TG1167 is used for testing peel cling to ASTM D 5458-95 (Re-approved 2001). In addition, the LFPlus can be used to perform a standard tensile test on stretch wrap film at very low force.

The legal requirement in the UK since October 2008 for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) when buying or selling a home means that there is an increased emphasis on thermal insulation, especially in new build properties. Lloyd Instruments’ LR30KPlus (30 kN (6744 lbf)) twin column material testing machine, equipped with NEXYGENPlus control and analysis software, can provide the capability for testing key mechanical properties of thermal insulation blocks. These include compressive stress, tensile strength and shear strength to EN 826, EN1607, EN12090, EN 12430 and EN 12431 standards.

Nano Tensile Testing Of Human Hair
Researchers in India have been investigating the nano tensile properties of human hair using an LFPlus single column materials testing machine and NEXYGENPlus control and analysis software from Lloyd Instruments. Using a specially designed winding grip to secure the sample, individual hairs undergo ‘pull to break’ tests to determine Young’s modulus, yield stress and tensile strength.

New Lasagne Stickiness Testing Jig From Lloyd Instruments
Lloyd Instruments has developed a new jig for the versatile TAPlus texture analyzer to test the stickiness of cooked sheets of pasta such as lasagne. With lasagne being a hugely popular dish both as supermarket ready meals and in industrial meals for pubs and cafes, the texture of the final product is extremely important. The stickiness is related to the starch content of the pasta sheet, which in turn is related to the cooking temperature and time. Measuring pasta stickiness allows these parameters to be optimized.

New Fish Texture Multiprobe Jig From Lloyd Instruments

Lloyd Instruments has introduced a new penetration jig for use with its TAPlus texture analyser. The multiprobe jig simulates the action of a fork to eat fish and provides an alternative approach to probes such as the single cylindrical die and to shearing methods. Applications include the evaluation of the textural properties of fish fillets as a function of different freezing and thawing methods.
