An innovation new adapter has been developed by igus, which allows a straight circular connected to be transformed into an angled one. Within just a few steps, this new ibow adapter can be installed during assembly or retrofitted on existing cables – with no need to remove the connectors. It is fitted easily by sliding it on, bending the cable, fixing it with a tie-wrap and then it is ready to use.

Back in March 2011, located on the Pacific coast ofFukushima Prefecture in Japan, the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant was severely damaged by the Tōhoku earthquake and ensuing tsunami. Throughout this chain of events three nuclear reactors were without suitable cooling and underwent a catastrophic meltdown. The clean-up and decommissioning has required thousands of scientists across the world to invent, develop and deliver new or improved techniques for nuclear debris removal and site remediation.

With a continuous material improvement programme in place, igus has introduced the next-generation of its popular bearing material iglidur G. Offering double the performance, iglidur G1 features considerable improved properties over its predecessor but comes at almost the same price point.

  Manufacturer and distributor of plastic plain bearings, spherical bearings, linear guides, cable carriers and continuous-flex cables, igus has announced the iglidur HSD350 plain bearing material that clearly displays its advantages over its metallic counterparts in the food and medical industries.

Combining the advantages of the E2/000 and E4.1 in one product range the E4.1L has been developed specifically to save assembly time. In comparison with standard interior separation, the E4.1L ‘lean’ features interior clip in slotted separators that provide up to an 80% assembly time saving.

Expanding its range of wear-resistant tribo-filaments for 3D printing, igus has introduced the chemical-resistant iglidur C210. The company now offers a total of six different materials that are suitable for printing using the fused deposition modelling (FDM) method. Prototypes and small batches for even more applications - for example in contact with aggressive cleaning agents - can be implemented with this new solution.

Nowadays an increasing number of crane technology companies rely on modern cable guidance with energy chains. With the new guidefast control system, igus has now developed an energy supply system that can also feed a manual overhead crane pendant on indoor cranes. Quick and easy to assemble, the guidefast control needs only a small installation space and can be adapted to suit almost any crane application.

  When energy chains operate in 'unsupported' mode, support trays enable the lower run of the chain to roll smoothly and securely. In addition to galvanised steel and stainless steel trays, igus now offers a lightweight option made of anodised aluminium for use in corrosive environments.

  igus has announced that the base price of its iglidur i3‑PL selective laser sintering (SLS) material has been reduced by 30%, with a corresponding decrease in printed part price. Since its introduction a year ago, there has been a general rise in volume of the material due to overall demand.

  An essential part of port facilities around the world are Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, and with the d-rover data transmission system, igus provides a solution to supply data to these cranes quickly and safely – for travels of over 800m.

The Northern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibition held at Event City, Manchester, on 27th– 28th September, will see igus exhibit its range of lightweight and maintenance-free bearings and cable management systems for a variety of applications.

  For applications where an extremely low noise energy chain, with very high dynamics or very low abrasion, is required, igus has developed the E6.1 series. It is suitable for applications with speeds of up to 20m/s, these chains are now available in new sizes with larger inner heights of up to 62mm.

  igus has introduced a compact 3D energy chain system for cranes and work platforms. The e-drum routes energy, data and media, such as air and liquids, safely to great heights.
