Base level standalone electronic cabinet security is offered by EMKA with their 1150 electromechanical swinghandle. This provides digital PIN pass code protection for a main lock, plus one other, e.g. a rear door or possibly a neighbouring rack. In a day-to-day data centre or co-location environment the digital keypad can operate two doors together or separately with mechanical cylinder key locks retained for use in case of power failure.

EMKA, known in the Data Centre industry for its BioLock technology, will be at the Data Centre World Exhibition on 11th-12th March at ExCel London. The EMKA BioLock system provides unique fingerprint technology stored and processed in the handle on the cabinet with an “Indisputable Audit Trail” to protect valuable data, and is compliant with the various data privacy rules and regulations such as PCI, SOX, SSAE 16 and HIPPA.

EMKA's Control Cockpit software makes it possible to manage all the elements and analysis of recorded parameters for up to 50 separate ELM systems. The humble and ubiquitous toggle latch comes today from EMKA in a multitude of variations under their 6000 program which includes many types in stainless steel. Toggle latches with their associated catch plates find application in situations where rapid fixing and release are required. This is often called for on packing cases, storage boxes, transit cases, access panels, cabinet doors, vehicle onboard storage compartments and similar.

EMKA’s 1000 Program of IP65 compression latches now encompasses a full range of lockable T handle, Wingknob, Square key and L handle variants, with shaft extensions to suit unusually deep door frames up to 95mm. They are expected to be especially useful in acoustic cabinets, genset installations, refrigeration, HVAC and on-board vehicle situations. This extensible shaft variant provides additional depth capability and also permits manual clamping adjustment by means of a threaded feature at the inner end. This enables the compression action to be fine tuned by adjusting the shaft mounted lock nut.

So ubiquitous are hinges in our everyday life as access solutions that if “the hinge” did not exist it would be a really urgent matter to invent it – and EMKA would be right up there at the front of the development program! A large range of new hardware accessories especially for commercial vehicles has been launched by EMKA in the form of a new “Commercial-Vehicles” brochure which details locks, latches, handles, hinges and gasketing now available for vehicles from horse boxes to railway rolling stock.

EMKA of “everything but the enclosure” fame have developed their Electronic Locking and Monitoring Program with the introduction of their new RMS490 Rack Management System in a standard 1U 19” format which is designed to fulfil all the needs of power and environmental management in high density cabinets such as server centres.

Industries such as food processing and pharmaceuticals have become much more sophisticated and far reaching in their requirements that companies such as EMKA now provide a wealth of stainless steel components from hinges and handles to specialist locking systems. Materials vary from AISI 303 to AISI 316 and include fabricated as well as fully machined items with sealing up to IP66.

A recent addition features the 1056 program externally fitted flush door hinge with concealed internal fixings and 165° opening. This is well suited to all kinds of street furniture and industrial electronic/electrical control rack-cabinets.

The EMKA Agent E range represents a new approach to the electronic lock solution for cabinet security comprising a unitary electronic release swing handle with battery power – so simplifying installation while enabling either individual radio key unlocking or central operation. This radio-controlled swing handle program does not need hard wiring and may be installed on individual cabinets or large applications with many suites of cabinets.
