Brevini Combines its Fluid Power and Gearbox Expertise to Create the Complete Package for Quarrying

Brevini Combines its Fluid Power and Gearbox Expertise to Create the Complete Package for Quarrying
When building a materials handling or processing machine for the quarrying or mining industries the first requirements that come to mind are ‘toughness’ and ‘durability’. The machine’s components must have the toughness to withstand the heavy and abrasive materials that are associated with these industries; as well as the durability to survive the shock loading, heavy workloads and harsh weather conditions they will be subjected to – especially in areas where maintenance access may be difficult.

Brevini Repair Service Rejuvenates Wind Turbine Drive

Brevini Repair Service Rejuvenates Wind Turbine Drive
The main drive gearboxes of wind turbines are well known to suffer in-service performance issues. The relatively rapid growth of this market, and the ever increasing demand for higher energy generating capacity, has meant that as fast as existing designs have been improved upon; newer, larger gearboxes with potentially new issues have entered the market. The result is a large number of main drive gearboxes that are in need of periodic repair and refurbishment.

Corus Opens its Doors to Hybrid Brevini PIV Gearboxes

Corus Opens its Doors to Hybrid Brevini PIV Gearboxes
A new filter plant at the BOS plant on the Scunthorpe Corus steelworks is using hybrid design gearboxes combining planetary and helical gear technology to open and close the doors on the iron desulphurisation process. The new installation is being used to capture the fumes created during the desulphurisation process, and has built in order to improve the plants environmental performance. The door drives needed to be compact yet still able to provide high torque output and low energy input, combined with strength and durability. Brevini PIV was able to deliver a solution using its Posiplan BPH shaft mounted gearbox.

Efficient gearboxes ensure reduced energy consumption for Scottish Water

Efficient gearboxes ensure reduced energy consumption for Scottish Water
During a recent service two thickener drives at the Scottish Water sewage treatment works in Glendevon were deemed to be obsolete. The costs of either repairing or replacing the drives would be extremely high as replacing the drives would require lengthy downtime and a repair job would be inefficient. Fortunately Brevini, working closely with Brammer Plc. a provider of industrial services, was able to deliver a no-engineering solution which would fit on the existing structure and provide the plant with high energy efficiency.

Rugged planetary gearboxes from Brevini are helping to reinvigorate the coal mining industry of Wales

Rugged planetary gearboxes from Brevini are helping to reinvigorate the coal mining industry of Wales
The mining industry of South Wales today may be a fraction of its former self, but the region’s days as an important energy producer are not yet over. When competition from large scale open-cast mining elsewhere forced the majority of the deep underground mines that once littered the valleys to close, millions of tonnes of high quality coal was left in them. Today, with energy prices at record levels and a new focus on reduced reliance on imported oil, entrepreneurs are revisiting the UK’s coal seams to see if they can once again be exploited profitably.
