It’s very British to adapt to the extremely unpredictable summer weather, but thanks partly to the work of Barnshaws Section Benders the crowd at Wimbledon Centre Court this month didn’t have too much to worry about. The stadium features a fully retractable 1,000 tonne roof, which allows tennis fans to enjoy the spectacle of world class sport in any summer weather condition.

Rolled steel helps to erect giant retail sign in Hungary
  Erected using steel fabrication expertise from Barnshaws Polska, a new giant retail sign has gone up in Hungary. The expert metal bending and fabrication company used 40 tonnes of precision rolled steel cylinders and cones to construct a tapered column to support the huge triangular sign structure.

‘Liquid’ metal curves created for Corby heritage sculpture
Celebrating the heritage of Corby, a new stainless steel sculpture has been fabricated and precision curved by metal bending company, Barnshaws Section Benders. The ‘Sundew Sculpture’ designed by renowned artist John Atkin, was opened on the 20th January 2017 outside Corby train station, with its geometric complexity paying homage to Corby’s steel industry and the town’s passion for music.

Structural steel tube supplied for S5 Expressway viaduct
Bringing further support to Polish domestic infrastructure, Barnshaws Polska has supplied 17 precision curved steel tubes to enable the construction of a new viaduct on the S5 expressway. The viaduct will be located nearer Wroclaw, Poland’s fourth largest city, constituting part of the direct road connection between Wroclaw, Poznan and Gdansk that the S5 will provide.

The candy canes won't bend themselves
This Christmas Barnshaws Section Benders, well-known for bending metal, has received a call from the North Pole as the elves need them to bend some more festive material. After Rudolph broke into the candy department and ate all the stock, the elves realised they had no candy canes left for the big day. With Christmas only weeks away, and no time to bend the candy in-house, the elves contacted Barnshaws to bend 500 tonnes of straight candy canes before the deadline of the 25th December.

Raising the roof on M&S car park
A redevelopment of Longbridge town centre, as part of the £70m project will see a new superstore for Marks & Spencer that is be one of the largest in the country and the adjoining car park has been constructed from steel with the roof and floor sections being curved by Barnshaws metal bending to ensure sufficient strength and controlled water run-off. The work was carried out for specialist steelwork contractor James Killelea.

The Structural Design Awards 2015 recently recognised, the construction of Derby Arena has benefitted from precision curved steel columns, measuring up to 24m long, produced by Barnshaws Section Benders. Combining an Olympic standard 250m velodrome track, 12 badminton courts or three volley ball courts, the facility seats up to 5,000 spectators.

Breaking new ground in diving and conservation techniques was the raising of the Mary Rose in 1982, and also was one of the most complex salvage operations ever conducted. It was an operation that older employees of Barnshaws Section Benders will also remember, as the businesses’ unrivalled steel fabrication expertise helped bring the wreck to the surface.

Britain’s first purpose-built digital advertising arch in Salford, Manchester is using precision rolled steel tube from Barnshaws Section Benders. The Salford Arch was financed by UK outdoor advertising business JCDecaux.
