Atlas Copco introduces compact compressor technology with breakthrough energy-efficiency

Atlas Copco surprised the market with a new, very compact oil-injected rotary screw compressor from 7 to 37 kW: the 7-37 GA VSD+. Besides a small footprint, it offers a leap forward in Free Air Delivery (improvements of up to 12%), and a breakthrough energy-efficiency: it requires on average 50% less energy than a comparable idling compressor.

Atlas Copco compressors power UK’s largest compressed natural gas vehicle filling station
Atlas Copco Greenfield compressors are playing an integral role at the UK’s largest Biomethane Compressed Natural Gas filling station in Crewe, in keeping with the company’s global commitment to a cleaner environment and sustainable productivity. The newly opened filling station, which is operated by CNG Services Ltd., provides fuel that can offer an 80% reduction in CO2 and NOX emissions, and has the potential to lower transport operators’ fuel cost per mile by nearly a third.

CHEP has achieved significant energy savings through the installation of energy efficient Atlas Copco compressors at its pallet production and repair sites in the UK. The savings from the installation have been measured at over 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. CHEP has a sophisticated network of service centre facilities strategically located across the UK where pallets are returned, inspected and repaired before being reissued in to the supply chain.

Compressors from Atlas Copco are playing a vital role in the £500 million upgrade of London’s Tottenham Court Road underground station. The major upgrade project, which is being carried out for Transport for London as a joint venture between Taylor Woodrow − Civil Engineering Division of Vinci Construction UK − and BAM Nuttall, will result in 2016 with an enlarged ticket hall six times the size of the present unit, new station entrances, additional access points to the Northern and Central Line platforms to reduce congestion plus fourteen escalators and six new lifts to provide step-free access.

Atlas Copco Compressors has expanded its AQ oil-free, water-injected screw compressor range with the introduction of new models from 15 to 30 kW that incorporate energy efficient Variable Speed Drive technology. Atlas Copco Compressors has released the first in its series of iLeaflets for tablets and desktop computers which enable customers to download and access dedicated, interactive and highly detailed information about different Atlas Copco product ranges. The first iLeaflet, which features the recently launched GA 30-90 kW compressor range, is the only tablet app of its type for the compressed air industry and is compatible with iPad’s, Android tablets and desktop computers.
