Atlas Copco surprised the market with a new, very compact oil-injected rotary screw compressor from 7 to 37 kW: the 7-37 GA VSD+. Besides a small footprint, it offers a leap forward in Free Air Delivery (improvements of up to 12%), and a breakthrough energy-efficiency: it requires on average 50% less energy than a comparable idling compressor.

Atlas Copco Greenfield compressors are playing an integral role at the UK’s largest Biomethane Compressed Natural Gas filling station in Crewe, in keeping with the company’s global commitment to a cleaner environment and sustainable productivity. The newly opened filling station, which is operated by CNG Services Ltd., provides fuel that can offer an 80% reduction in CO2 and NOX emissions, and has the potential to lower transport operators’ fuel cost per mile by nearly a third.

CHEP has achieved significant energy savings through the installation of energy efficient Atlas Copco compressors at its pallet production and repair sites in the UK. The savings from the installation have been measured at over 1,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. CHEP has a sophisticated network of service centre facilities strategically located across the UK where pallets are returned, inspected and repaired before being reissued in to the supply chain.

At Hannover Messe, April 8-12, 2013, Atlas Copco will present the latest innovations in compressor technology, industrial gas solutions, vacuum pumps, air treatment equipment and service. Visitors to stand B40 in Hall 26 will be able to walk through complete installations, including compressors, air treatment and industrial gas generators, and see how an installation could look on their site. The company, which celebrates its 140th anniversary this year, will present a number of new developments, several of which will have their world premier.

On stand B12 at IWEX 2013, Atlas Copco Compressors will be showcasing a wide array of energy efficient blower technologies for the water and effluent treatment industry, including the company’s ZS range of technically superior oil-free, positive displacement rotary screw blowers.

When Michell Instruments needed to upgrade its compressed air supply to meet expanded capacity at its factory in Ely, Cambridgeshire, it required a supplier capable of providing highly reliable and efficient technology. For this reason, Michell Instruments chose to install oil-free compressor and dryer solutions from Atlas Copco.

Atlas Copco Compressor has appointed a new General Manager/Director for the UK and Ireland. Dirk Villé joins the UK team from his current position as General Manager/Director of Compressor Technique for Atlas Copco in Austria.

Atlas Copco today was again recognized as one of the most sustainable companies by the annual Global 100 list. The list, presented at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, ranks companies that show they are increasing productivity while using less resources. Atlas Copco is ranked 18th on the list.

Compressors from Atlas Copco are playing a vital role in the £500 million upgrade of London’s Tottenham Court Road underground station. The major upgrade project, which is being carried out for Transport for London as a joint venture between Taylor Woodrow − Civil Engineering Division of Vinci Construction UK − and BAM Nuttall, will result in 2016 with an enlarged ticket hall six times the size of the present unit, new station entrances, additional access points to the Northern and Central Line platforms to reduce congestion plus fourteen escalators and six new lifts to provide step-free access.

Atlas Copco Compressors has expanded its AQ oil-free, water-injected screw compressor range with the introduction of new models from 15 to 30 kW that incorporate energy efficient Variable Speed Drive technology. The new Class 0 certified AQ 15-30 VSD range consists of four different models, including air as well as water-cooled variants, and can offer substantial energy savings and high operational efficiency for oil-free applications.

Atlas Copco Compressors has launched three new ranges of nitrogen and oxygen generators for on-site gas generation. The new NGM, NGP and OGP generators meet the highest purity standards and run economically for both large and small applications. They also enable companies to utilise their existing compressed air installation to generate their own nitrogen and oxygen and therefore realise significant economies of scale as well as operational cost savings.

Atlas Copco Compressors has released a new app for smartphones and tablet computers that enables users to monitor their compressor installation from anywhere on their site remotely. The Elektronikon App is linked to the controllers in Atlas Copco’s compressors and dryers and can be downloaded from iTunes or Google Play.

W22 high-efficiency electric motors and variable speed drives from WEG have been chosen by leading industrial group Atlas Copco to power its latest range of energy-efficient screw blowers. The 90, 132 and 160 kW motors and drives are being used in models from Atlas Copco’s ZS range of blowers, supplied for a range of demanding applications including wastewater treatment, food and beverage manufacture and chemical processing.

Nitrogen gas can be used in a diverse number of ways in a wide variety of manufacturing industries. As a sister function of compressed air, on-site nitrogen generation can provide additional opportunities for cost savings and other efficiencies for manufacturers who change from a delivered nitrogen bottle or a liquid nitrogen service.

Atlas Copco has applied its expertise in air compressors to vacuum pump technology with the launch of its new GV oil-sealed rotary screw vacuum pump system, suitable for “rough vacuum” between 0.5mbar and 500mbar. There are great synergies between compressed air and vacuum technology, which enable Atlas Copco to design and manufacture its own vacuum pump systems with the same quality and reliability as those of its compressors.

Atlas Copco’s new high-performance hydraulic breaker, the SB 702, makes light work of a wide range of gardening, landscaping, construction and demolition jobs. Intensive research, innovative product design and Atlas Copco’s know-how in the field of breaker technology, has resulted in lower fuel consumption, lower vibrations and less noise.

Atlas Copco Compressors has released the first in its series of iLeaflets for tablets and desktop computers which enable customers to download and access dedicated, interactive and highly detailed information about different Atlas Copco product ranges. The first iLeaflet, which features the recently launched GA 30-90 kW compressor range, is the only tablet app of its type for the compressed air industry and is compatible with iPad’s, Android tablets and desktop computers.
