Atlas Copco has marked its century of operations in the UK with a celebratory event at London’s Shard building, which included a look forward at how industrial technology might evolve over the next 100 years. 

Advance Engineering has invested in an Atlas Copco on-site nitrogen generation system to ensure the quality of its laser-cutting operation, increase output and make substantial cost savings when set against delivered bottled gas supplies. An Atlas Copco oxygen generator is helping Nat-Ur-Gas Solschen produce clean methane at their biogas plant in Germany. A new development in the world of Liquid Ring Vacuum technology has been announced by Atlas Copco with the launch of its LRP 700-1000 VSD+ range of intelligent liquid ring vacuum pumps. A departure from the classic liquid ring pumps available in the market today, the LRP VSD+ is a compact, high performance, energy efficient system enclosed in a strong, noise-containing canopy.

A dry screw vacuum pump offering lower lifecycle costs, higher productivity, less energy consumption and easy maintenance has been launched by Atlas Copco’s Industrial Vacuum division with the DHS 065-200 VSD+. Built for rapid cycling and continuous operation applications, the DHS VSD+ is a truly clean, zero contamination dry vacuum pump that requires no water or oil cooling.

The latest addition to its family of nitrogen generators, Atlas Copco’s new NGMs 1–3 membrane technology units offer an efficient, compact and simple low-cost on-site solution for low-flow N2 requirements with the added benefits of minimal maintenance and operational costs.

Three different types of oil-free vacuum pumps from Atlas Copco have been measured and certified with zero risk of oil contamination by the safety and quality organisation TÜV Rheinland. The oil-free claw vacuum pump DZS, oil-free screw vacuum pump DHS VSD+ and the latest oil-free liquid ring pumps LRP VSD+ have all been awarded ‘Class 0’ status. This assures users of their safety in sensitive industry sectors such as food processing and packaging, electronics, pharmaceuticals and paper. 

Built for rapid cycling and continuous operation applications, the DHS VSD+ from Atlas Copco’s is a clean, zero contamination dry vacuum pump that requires no water or oil cooling. Certified as oil-free in the category ‘Class Zero' according to ISO standard 8573-1 the pump is free of oil emissions, including aerosol oil content in the outlet air stream.

The Project allows young people to acquire a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork, which will help them throughout their lives.Their fleet includes the Donald Searle, an Ocean 75 yacht built in Poole in 1979 and named after an early volunteer and major Project benefactor. The yacht has now been docked for repainting – a significant and demanding project for the 25-metre vessel.
