Significant energy savings and reduced carbon footprint with Atlas Copco’s new integrated ID 95-285 refrigerant dryer
Atlas Copco has introduced the next generation ID95-285 refrigerant dryer integrated across its GA/GA+/GA VSD 37 to 90 kW oil-injected screw compressors range*. The new energy-efficient dryer, operating with R410A refrigerant, sets a global benchmark in performance, ecological footprint and customer value, combining high air quality output with low power consumption.
Compared to conventional dryers with a similar cooling capacity, the dryer’s direct power consumption has been reduced by 40%, even at full load. The significant energy savings and reduction in global warming potential have been achieved by introducing R410A refrigerant and by optimising the design of key components, such as the refrigerant compressor and heat exchanger, for low pressure drop.

The R410A refrigerant employed in the integrated ID 95-285 dryer allows substantial reduction of the unit’s carbon footprint, lowering the global warming potential by 50% when compared to that of the previous generation of refrigerant dryers.

In addition to offering ecological benefits, the ID 95-285 dryer features Saver Cycle control, designed to take account of compressed air demand variations. This function is managed by the Elektronikon® controller to achieve additional energy savings. Atlas Copco’s patented regulation algorithm enables the dryer’s start/stop cycle to be based on the dryer load and ambient temperature, thus reducing the power consumption requirement.

The air-to-air heat exchanger reduces energy consumption while preventing possible corrosion damage from condensation forming on the outside of the pipe work. Every unit is equipped as standard with a no-loss electronic drain to eliminate potential compressed air losses and to add extra reliability to the system.

Atlas Copco also continues to maintain its philosophy of integration by offering the option of two-stage filtration and a condensate separator within the dryer canopy. This alternative configuration reduces the complexity, cost and space requirements of the installation and minimises the possibility of leaks and excessive pressure drops.

A retrofitting kit is available to operators of existing GA compressor installations, featuring the previous generation integrated dryers, to help them achieve the benefit of additional energy savings.

In summary, the new range of integrated dryers provides guaranteed pressure dew point performance and delivers quality dry air with optimum energy efficiency. Major features of the ID95-285 units are the built-in optional two-stage filtration and condensate treatment for easy installation, plus advanced controls for capacity regulation, additional energy saving and monitoring. All of these developments make the new ID95-285 a drying solution that provides additional lower life cycle costs while reducing the environmental impact for operators.

*The range of GA/GA+/GA VSD 37 to 90 kW compressors is used in a variety of industrial applications including workshops, equipment assembly, packaging, automotive production, woodworking, printing, textiles, construction materials manufacturing, plastics production and moulding as well as in oil and gas operations.
