INTERALIA XMU+ ENSURES EFFICIENT CALL PROCESSING AT ESB’S NEW POWER STATIONS

Part of the Kentech Group, a privately owned multi-national providing engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and telecommunication services, Dornan Engineering required a totally reliable and easy to use system. The XMU+ fulfils these objectives by front-ending the power station’s main telephone lines, prompting callers for the location they want to be directed to, then transferring those callers to the appropriate extension.

The Interalia XMU+ purchased by Dornan Engineering has been supplied with 8 ports. A stand-alone unit, it fills the gap between the simple passive announcer and voice-mail or IVR systems. Delivering call processing, Audiotext and music/messaging-on-hold, the XMU is compatible with all major telephone systems and is easy to install and operate.

Due to a combination of changes in EU and Irish Electricity legislation, the decision was made in 2000 to replace all existing ESB peat-burning power stations with two new, environmentally friendly plants at Lough Ree located on the east bank of the River Shannon and at West Offlay at Shannonbridge. The power stations took two years to complete and represents an investment of some €440m by EBS Power Generation.
