HBM's new catalog Strain Gages and Accessories is now available in both English and German versions. The catalog features all of HBM’s extensive range of strain gages and their specifications on nearly 100 pages.
A flow chart is included that requires answers to a few simple questions so that the best strain gage for any application can be easily and quickly determined. In addition, the catalog contains many useful hints on how to correctly use strain gages.
In addition to detailed information about strain gages, the catalog provides details about accessories, such as adhesives, bonding material, cleaning and covering agents, which are needed for strain gage applications.
Optical strain gages based on so-called fiber Bragg gratings are among the many features of the new catalog. These can be used for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres because their operation is based on light rather than electrical signals; similarly electromagnetic interference does not impact on their operation. Optical strain gages are particularly suited to applications with very high strain and load cycle numbers.
Strain gages are mainly used for experimental stress analysis and in the manufacture of transducers.
