Electric motors account for a large share of the electric energy used in industrial and municipal processes. The Swedish company Emotron offers solutions that can make consumption savings of up to 50 per cent. The city of Helsingborg, where Emotron’s head office is located, has now awarded the company the environmental prize for contributions to saving energy and consequently to reducing the impact on the climate.

Wonderware today announced that China’s Ministry of Railways has selected Wonderware System Platform as the SCADA system to operate the country’s national railway. The project will extend to 2020 and involves the automation of all power monitoring points for a majority of the Chinese railroad system and will feature 3 million I/O points.

Global bearing supplier, NSK, has developed a new cost saving programme, which is designed to deliver real benefits to the operating costs, efficiency and profitability of UK food processors and manufacturers. The value of the cost saving programme has been evidenced by an initial example where NSK has delivered savings of over (GBP)24,000 per annum for a confectionery manufacturer on the operation of just one conveyor line.
