Cape Cod Wood Sidings, Inc., a division of Marwood Ltd., has selected VICTREX® PEEK™ pipe for its wood kiln heat exchanger system to enhance performance and extend service life. To further heighten the overall performance of the system, the stainless steel fittings used to install the VICTREX PEEK pipe are coated with VICOTE® Coatings, based on VICTREX PEEK polymer, to protect the metal from external corrosion. The coating offers exceptional wear resistance, high temperature performance, strength and durability.

Willbe S&T, an industry leader in semiconductors and LCD parts in Korea, selected VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer as the material in its CMP (chemical mechanical planarization) retaining rings. The unique design of Willbe S&T’s insert molded CMP ring provides better performance, longer life and reduced cost compared to traditional two-piece bonded type CMP retaining rings made with stainless steel and polyphenylene sulfide PPS.

Victrex Polymer Solutions announces the addition of a new thermoplastic compound to its range of VICTREX® WG™ premium wear grade polymers. The PAEK-based compound, called VICTREX WG102, was developed in response to requests from engineers and OEMs for improved reliability, reduced failure rates, and increased energy efficiency to meet the requirements of more demanding wear applications in the automotive and processing equipment industries.

When Amphenol wanted to develop a new P-clamp for mission-critical cable harnesses, it used the same mechanical design of its original high performance P-clamps, made with VICTREX PEEK polymer, but instead used a softer durometer silicone rubber for the clamp cushioning. Called the LDG P-clamp, the product was designed to reduce wear and tear on mission-critical transmission lines (RF, Fiber Optics) and is currently in use in a major aerospace program.

VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer has been selected by Titan Enterprises Ltd, for use in its unique, high accuracy and low-cost ultrasonic ATRATO flow meter, which is predicted to be a breakthrough product in small bore flow metering.

Bruce Argetsinger, CEO and owner of Mold Threads, Inc., (MTI), a Branford, CT, USA custom molder, races vintage motorcycles in his spare time. While competing on the flat track racing circuit, he saw riders replacing leaking intake manifold seals made of brass with seals made from VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer. As an injection molder, Argetsinger knew that the polymer was the best material choice for the application. “I realized that MTI could injection mold the seals at a much lower cost,” he explained. “We build our own molds and have been molding complex components from VICTREX PEEK polymer for years.”

When it comes to bearing cages, the design and materials used are of paramount importance for cage performance as well as bearing operational reliability. In the world of professional cycling where high friction can negatively influence a result, material properties such as low coefficient of friction, low weight and good mechanical performance are critical. For these reasons, ROS, a German manufacturer of high-performance plastic components, chose VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer for a new line of bearing cages developed primarily for sports applications.

VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer has been selected by Huco Dynatork, Hertford, England, for its unique range of Multi-Beam couplings. These couplings are replacing metal in a demanding, high-voltage electronics assembly application used in the manufacture of plasma TV screens.

VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer – already successfully used in the automotive industry for many years – also fulfils the N2580-1 requirements. This standard defines prohibited and declarable substances contained in materials, thereby ensuring implementation of legal requirements and the Bosch customers’ needs. Moreover, Victrex can confirm GADSL as well as RoHS compliance for the released grades. Additionally, all raw materials required for the manufacture of this high-performance thermoplastic have already been pre-registered pursuant to REACH.

Victrex Polymer Solutions will showcase its material innovations at K-Show 2010 (Hall 05/Booth D11) in Düsseldorf, Germany. Victrex will highlight a number of new products and technology solutions in areas such as composites, laser sintering, wear reduction, films and coatings. Victrex APTIV™ film has been selected by Metallux AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic devices in thick film technologies, for its new flexible foil sensor. APTIV film is featured in this Metapot (MMP) sensor as a spacer film and was chosen for its ability to withstand the highly exacting demands of the sensor application.

When Motonic Corporation, a leader in engineering technology and manufacturer of advanced parts for automobile engines, wanted to improve on traditional technology, it chose VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer to replace metal for the valve seats used in the pressure regulators in compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.

When SBB Co., Ltd., a Korea-based ball bearing manufacturer, wanted to reduce production costs and weight in their robot speed reducer, they selected VICTREX® PEEK™ polymer.
