The Digital Imaging Research Centre (DIRC) of Kingston University has joined UKIVA as an Academic member. Created to integrate and enhance research excellence in digital imaging across the University, DIRC values a balance between scientific excellence and applied research. Currently, the centre has research groups in Intelligent Visual Surveillance and Medical Imaging. DIRC is always keen to further expand on its already strong external links with industry and hospitals, and to explore opportunities for knowledge transfer.

UKIVA Consultant, Don Braggins, said: “Panther Vision and DIRC have the special privilege of being the UKIVA’s first new members since the Association became a Special Interest Group of the PPMA. Dr. Sergio A Velastin, Director of DIRC, is also member of the Executive Committee of The Institution of Engineering and Technology Vision and Imaging Network, along with myself and Mark Williamson (UKIVA Chairman and UKIVA board director at the PPMA)”.
