The judging panel for the UKIVA’s ‘Most Innovative Machine Vision Project’ award has announced that four companies have been short-listed. They are: Autocoding Systems, Olmec-UK, Scandinavian MV and STEMMER IMAGING.
The award, now in its second year, recognizes the most innovative vision system installed in the period between January 2012 to June 2013. It is part of the PPMA (Processing & Packaging Manufacturing Association) Group Awards.

Autocoding Systems, working with Dairy Crest, developed an updated vision application which analyses and identifies vacuum failures on sealed packs of 20 kg blocks of cheese. Olmec-UK developed a vision system capable of locating and measuring laser machined 30 – 120 µm diameter holes in packaging film moving at 350 m/min. Scandanavian MV’s submission was for valve seat inspection in the automotive industry, to replace manual inspection by microscope with a fully automated vision system, increasing reliability and providing full traceability. STEMMER IMAGING was nominated for its work in the development of the imaging system for the C-Cell bread & baked product quality assessment system.

The winner will be announced at the PPMA gala dinner awards evening at the National Motorcycle Museum on Tuesday June 4th 2013. This is the first evening of the Total Processing & Packaging show which is taking place at the NEC, Birmingham.
