Thermo Fisher Scientific Presents Innovative Instrumentation at GIFA 2011 for Metal Measurement and Analysis
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, will showcase its range of detection and measurement instruments at GIFA 2011, the 12th International Foundry Trade Fair, from June 28 – July 2, in Düsseldorf, Germany. It will highlight automation and process solutions that aid workflow production and provide fast and precise results, including the Thermo Scientific automated OES and XRF metals analyzers, the Thermo Scientific RM 200 EM strip thickness gauge and the Thermo Scientific RadEye range, which provides radiation measurement and protection for industrial applications. For more information, visit the Thermo Scientific booth G41, Hall 12 during GIFA 2011.
During GIFA, Thermo Fisher will showcase the Thermo Scientific ARL SMS-2500 automation system, which provides an integrated, workflow-orientated solution specifically designed for high-speed production control laboratories in the metals industries. By enabling direct access to the milling machine for the preparation of samples, processing time is reduced and expensive electromechanical sample transfer systems are eliminated. Customers can select the best milling solution, such as the Thermo Scientific Haas Mini Mill combined with the Thermo Scientific ARL PrepControl, depending on preferences, needs and budgets. The Haas Mini Mill, teamed with the ARL PrepControl™, addresses the requirements of modern process control laboratories for rapid and reliable metals sample preparation.

The company will also showcase the Thermo Scientific ARL 4460 OES, which offers outstanding performance for spark emission metals analysis, allowing rapid, reliable quality control of metals. It features a Spark-DAT option that significantly enhances its capabilities, enabling ultra-fast counting of inclusions and identification, making it a highly effective workflow solution. Inclusions can significantly impact the properties of metals.

Thermo Fisher will also present its innovative range of radiation measurement and detection products, including portable monitors and complex analytical instruments and high-tech networks for industrial and environmental applications. Products include:

 Thermo Scientific RadEye PRD, a compact, highly sensitive measuring device for the detection of radiation sources.
 Thermo Scientific RadEye B20, a multipurpose meter used for contamination and dose rate measurement.
 Thermo Scientific RadEye G-10, a lightweight system designed for quick and reliable measurement of gamma dose and dose rate.

The company will hold device demonstrations within booth G41 during GIFA 2011, as well as offer detailed information on Thermo Scientific monitoring systems, including the FHT 1388, FHT 1388 S-12 and ASM IV. These systems are used to check trucks, trains and other vehicles for hidden radioactive sources in the load.
