NEW Modular Eddy Current Sensor
Ixthus Instrumentation Ltd has launched a new high precision, non-contact linear displacement measuring instrument from leading eddy current sensor technology specialist Kaman Inc.
The KD-2306 can measure both ferrous and non-ferrous metal targets with a measurement resolution as small as 0.05 µm and has the ability to perform through non-metallic substrates such as glass or plastics. Able to withstand the harshest of environments, eddy current sensors are cost effective alternatives for LVDTs, air gauges, dial indicators and micrometer measuring systems and with an inherently long life and extremely low maintenance, are equally aimed at applications in the laboratory, production test or for OEMs.

The new KD-2306 boasts a frequency response of up to 50 kHz ensuring high speed data capture for dynamic high accuracy displacement measurement applications. For straightforward installation, the din-rail mounted signal conditioning electronics module has all features fully accessible from the front of the unit including screw terminal I/O connectors with provision for synchronised multiple channel use and both course and fine potentiometers for zero, gain and linearity recalibration.

The range includes a choice of over 30 dual and single coil sensors, in shielded or unshielded designs for precision measurement from 0.5 mm to 60 mm with 0.01% FS resolution and linearity to 1% FS. Sensors can be selected for operation in temperatures ranging from cryogenic to +200 ºC and are available with integral or removable cables up o to 4.5 m long.

The versatile KD-2306 also features high-gain analogue, DC or 4-20 MA outputs in single ended, bipolar or differential configuration. Standard options are available for extended sensor cable length, temperature compensation, non-standard range measurement, redundancy managed control systems, and other application specific modifications can be included to suit the customers’ requirements. Sensors are supplied pre-calibrated with full traceable records
