New Ground Gas Monitor Provides Continuous Data
Ion Science has introduced GasClam, said to be the first gas monitor to give continuous, unmanned ground-gas data collection. Its ability to log long-term, real trend information is a revolution in gas management and risk prediction allowing informed decisions to be made on accurate, reliable data. As more landfill gas to energy projects are undertaken, GasClam becomes an indispensible tool in evaluating gas production.
Manufactured from stainless steel, GasClam is Intrinsically Safe, environmentally sealed and ingress protection rated IP-68. Battery operated, GasClam can be powered for up to three months based on hourly sampling. GasClam measures methane, carbon dioxide and oxygen concentrations as well as atmospheric pressure and temperature. Optional CO/H2S or VOC, plus water depth are soon to be available along with a telemetry module for remote, real time data communication. Sampling frequency can be set and is variable from two minutes, to once daily. Data is downloaded to a PC using RS 232 communication. Target applications include landfill and brownfield sites, coal mines, petroleum and solvent storage filling stations, refineries and below ground carbon capture and storage.
