Edbro Improves Tipping Safety With Its High Voltage Alert System
Edbro, the number one supplier of hydraulic truck tipping hoists, has launched a new high voltage alert system designed to protect drivers and equipment from power line contact and other potential electrical hazards. Using a simple detection antenna, the high voltage alert senses when a tipper is dangerously close to power lines and emits audio and visual warnings to the driver.
The latest in Edbro’s safe tipping range of products is the high voltage alert, a system designed to detect nearby power cables and prevent potential contact. The warning system uses a compact detection antenna mounted within the chassis cab which is connected to an in-cab warning unit fitted with clear audio and visual warnings. The 12-24 volt unit is easily fitted to new vehicles or retro-fitted to vehicles already in use, typically tippers and cranes.

The in-cab display takes up very little cabin room with dimensions of 130 mm x 35 mm x 25 mm and produces a high intensity red flashing LED as well as an 85 db high pitched buzzer when high voltage is detected within a pre-set distance (up to 100 meters). The detection antenna is 235 mm long and weighs just 60 g.

Edbro has many years of experience in the engineering of tipping safety equipment putting extensive efforts into R&D to develop safety in the field. The high voltage alert is simple to install on new equipment and can also be retrofitted in just a few hours; once installed the device will activate on PTO activation and will then continuously monitor for potential electrical hazards to reduce the risk of accidents.

Peter Smith, Sales and Marketing Director for Edbro, comments: “When it comes to detecting electrical hazards you can never have too much assistance. The high voltage alert will detect power cables that may not be visible from the cab and reduce the likelihood of lethal accidents caused by power cable contact.”
