Condition monitoring box detects machine failures

There is a need to find more ways to connect industrial assets to the cloud and to enhance predictive maintenance, so Arrow Electronics is now offering two new versions of the Shiratech iCOMOX intelligent condition monitoring box. It will help extend equipment lifetime, reduce unplanned downtime, cut maintenance costs and save energy.

Shiratech’s iCOMOX open platform built using Analog Devices’ sensing, ultra-low power signal processing, communication and power management technologies. The condition monitoring box provides an easy-to-use solution for monitoring conditions from the surface of equipment.

With fully integrated vibration, magnetic field, temperature and audio sensors, the iCOMOX condition moinitoring box provides early detection of machine failures in condition-based-monitoring (CBM) applications.

The compact, battery-powered modules are IP66 rated, CE and FCC certified and ready to mount with a selection of optional adapter plates, and come with user-configurable CBM software embedded.

The iCOMOX Data Acquisition Kit and developers’ software kit (SDK) is also available.

It will help developers quickly build intelligent condition-monitoring solutions for deployment.

iCOMOX NB-IoT contains an LTE-M/NB-IoT/EGPRS modem to share sensor data, status and analysis over a low-power wide area (LPWA) cellular connection, enabled by global connectivity services provider, Arkessa. iCOMOX PoE features a 10/100Base-TX Ethernet port and adds flexibility to power associated equipment using Power over Ethernet (PoE). Both new versions extend the iCOMOX platform in addition to the existing SmartMesh IP 2.4GHz 802.15.4e wireless communication.

The iCOMOX PoE offers a wider frequency response range from dc to 11kHz, compared to the battery-powered SmartMeshIP and NB-IoT models with 1.5kHz bandwidth for vibration analysis.

iCOMOX also features ultra-low power consumption with SensorStrobe technology and comes in a very compact form factor for external and under hood mounting. Various mounting adapters accommodate a wide range of monitored equipment. It is easy to install, use and maintain platform concept.

It has the ability to configure warning and alarm levels and timestamp events for each sensor

Arrow Electronics will showcase iCOMOX at the embedded world trade show in Nuremberg, Germany (February 25-27).
